Dynamic Mobilisation Exercises ~

• improve range of motion
• increase core engagement
• improve spinal mobility
• improve spinal flexibility
• improve balance
• identify weaknesses
• stretch neck and spinal muscles
• improves coordination

DME’s allow for the monitoring of progress when a weaker or tighter side has been assessed.

Preferred aid is a lick as snatches can occur when using a treat or carrot. Licks avoid sharp, sudden pulls and the movement is fluid, easier to hold and allows for a deeper stretch 💪🏼

It is IMPORTANT to always warm up before doing DME’s whether that’s a 5 minute in hand walk, 5 mins of gentle massage, doing them post exercise or after a horse has been in the field etc.

Apologies for the recent delay in replying to messages and emails. On Thursday, we had to say goodbye to one of our beloved family spaniels. For 15 wonderful years, she brought so much joy, love, and wagging tails to everyone who met her and everywhere she went.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while I take a little time to catch up on admin over the next few days 🤍

Benny showing lovely releases throughout his physiotherapy session today 🙌🏼

Lots of shoulder work today for Benny, working on releasing hypertonicity and improving his shoulder movement along with working on his long standing lumbosacral tension.

Helping release areas of tension and improving range of motion is incredibly rewarding 😊

Building strength, maintaining condition and improving performance ✨

Full assessment followed by a treatment and personalised exercise programme for each horse ~ £60

12/03/2026

The key to building all-round strength and condition is to use a variety of exercises. Structured training using both ridden and ground work developing strength, flexibility, balance and endurance along with -

• Improving performance, through improving coordination, balance and core strength
• Enhancing musculoskeletal health, by building muscle around joints and improving posture
• Helping prevent injury through increasing muscle, tendon & ligament resilience to stress

A structured training programme paired with maintenance Physiotherapy allows horses to maintain peak health and condition, regular Physiotherapy sessions allow for training plans to be altered depending on areas of weakness, asymmetry and tension found during a session.

By using a variety of exercises I find horses stay fully engaged during their work and enjoy being challenged ✨

Chaos and Roy showing their post physiotherapy release feelings 🙌🏼

“Releases” are signs that the nervous system and musculoskeletal system are responding positively.

Signs of “releases” include licking, softening of the eye, chewing, yawning, sighing and lower of the head.

Physiotherapy activates the parasympathetic nervous system allowing nervous system regulation along with reducing muscle tension/spasms aiding relaxation.

Mabel enjoys her physiotherapy as long as she’s getting treats throughout!

Sometimes dogs need treats to help reassure them that physio isn’t scary and it’s okay to relax 🐾

Little Dilys making sure her mum knows she’s ready for another treat during her physio session 🐶

Dilys enjoyed her maintenance physio check up, she is an active agility dog so making sure she isn’t carrying areas of tension reduces the chance of injury and keeps her performing at her best 🐾
