3 Easy ways to make a trip to the Dentist FUN for kids:

1- Let your little one dress up as their favorite character. 👸🏻🦖🦸 Using an alter ego will give them an extra boost of confidence

2- Turn the visit into a game of BINGO. 🤩 Have a list of words or images for your child to cross off as they encounter each one. (ie. Dentist chair, tiny mirror, tooth counter)

3- Let your child bring along a favorite toy 🧸 and have them get their teeth counted together!

The words you say to your child about the dentist matter. 🦷👩🏼‍⚕️

You might think that telling them, "It's not scary" and "They won't hurt you" are reassuring...

BUT the only words in these sentences your little one is going to hear are HURT and SCARY. 😳

So what should you say instead?

It's important to keep the information simple, positive, and non-threatening.

Use a positive, calm, and matter-of-fact tone (as if you were talking about a routine trip to the grocery store.)

I've put together some fun/kid-friendly suggestions on what not to say to avoid scaring them & what to try instead! 🙌

Tooth decay is the #1 childhood disease 🤯🥺

Our children are being born into a world where they have a 50% chance of getting a 100% preventable disease by the time they are 8 years old.

There are a lot of factors involved here, but…

🌟One of the easiest ways to prevent cavities is to create positive dental experiences at the dentist EARLY & OFTEN.

Having a preventative relationship with the dentist rather than reactive can make ALL the difference.

That being said, going to the dentist can feel scary and foreign for kids…

and the words and stories they hear from others can add to that fear.

A super easy way to prep kids for a positive dentist visit is to read children’s books about going to the dentist beforehand!

It helps kids:
🦷 visualize themselves having a positive experience
🪥 know what they can expect
🤗 and it give you an opportunity to answer any questions they have!
