Welcome to Heartseeker End of Life!
My name is Victoria and I am a Death Doula located in Lamont County, Alberta. I also serve Sherwood Park and Vegreville.
What is a Death Doula? Many people have heard of a Birth Doula or Midwife, which is someone who supports women through the labour of bringing a life into the world. Death Doulas (also called End of Life Doulas, Death Midwives, or Thanadoulas) are much the same, only providing emotional, spiritual, non-medical support during the labour of dying. This support is provided to the dying, as well as their loved ones. Death Doula might sound like a newly emerging profession, but really it is as old as death itself!
Each Doula comes with their own unique gifts and offerings. My strengths lie in helping you to plan for the end in a way that aligns with your core beliefs and values. This could be anything from composing a Personal Directive to creating a complete end of life plan. I can help you face and come to terms with mortality, whether it is your own or that of a loved one. I am passionate about helping others to navigate the difficult path of grief, no matter what type of loss you have experienced. I apply all of my offerings to companion animals and their guardians as well, because for many of us, our beloved pets are family too! Additionally, I aspire to cultivate a culture of death positivity for my community through education.
