Get to know your normal so when something changes like a lump, ulcer , sore , irregular bleeding or skin changes see your doctor for a check up.

Don't forget to look after yourselves! Just a little reminder that holidays can sometimes be a good time to make sure you are up to date with your health screening. I have seen a lot of people this year who have delayed their cervical screening or breast cancer screening due to Covid which is understandable. However, it is so important not to miss the opportunity for early detection and treatment of cancer that screening provides. It can make a huge difference!
If you are not sure if you are due a cervical screening test (Pap smear)? You can check online through the National Cancer Screening Register participant portal. You can also re-order a Bowel Test kit, if you have lost the one you were sent in the post, to check for any signs of bowel cancer too!

I really enjoyed my time at the Australasian Menopause Conference - even if it was “virtual”! Australia has fantastic people working in the area of Menopause research and education. The Australasian Menopause Society website (menopause.org.au) is such a great source of information for health professionals and for consumers. I love the checklist of important info that women can complete and bring into their consultation with them. Very handy!

It's National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week.

Did you know....

1. the "Pap smear" has been replaced by a 5 yearly Cervical Screening Test (CST)?

2. vaccination for the virus that causes cervical cancer (HPV) is now offered free to every teenager in Australia?

3. If you find the speculum examination for cervical cancer screening too painful or traumatic, there is now another option, a self-collected sample.
