The outlines of human identity are blurred.
Each of us makes up several personalities that are expressed in different, sometimes contradictory, circumstances.
The dissociation between these various personas, or, let's call it behavioural pattern models, has two clear projections:
1. The optimist. This part is hedonistic and bold, tends to ignore risks and future consequences.
2. The pessimist. Tends to overthink about those risks and consequences
And both of these projections escalate dynamically in two scenarios: in adolescence, and certain neurological and psychiatric pathologies.
Thoughts from Mariano Sigman’s book “The secret life of the mind. How our brain thinks, feels, and decides”
