Dear Open Hearts,
On the First of March, when winter loosens its quiet grip, an ancient Bulgarian tradition awakens — Baba Marta Day (Grandmother March)
People tie red and white threads, called Martenitsa, around wrists and trees, whispering wishes for health, harmony, and new beginnings. The red carries life and strength; the white brings purity and peace. Together, they invite balance between earth and spirit.
Long ago, it was said that Baba Marta — the wild old grandmother of March — watched the hearts of people. When she saw kindness, she smiled, and the sun returned. Snow melted gently, rivers began to sing again, and trees dressed themselves in hope.
Today, we tie the threads not only for luck, but to remember: after every cold season, warmth always finds its way back.
Blessings of renewal, health, and light to all. 🌿
