If you haven't signed up to receive a holiday basket, which we've been distributing to Hazel Park School District families for over 35 years, the deadline is tomorrow -- Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 -- at 2 pm.
You must live in the Hazel Park School district to be eligible.
Various groups and organizations contribute to this worthwhile project. Each year, more than 200 families and senior citizens receive food, hats, toys, and mittens. These items help make their holiday season brighter. For many of our children and families, including our senior citizens, the holidays would be very bleak without these baskets.
Visit any of our schools, the Hazel Park City Library, or the Ford Administration Building to apply. Call 1-248-658-5210 if you need more information.

Hazel Park Schools will host a Flu Vaccine clinic this Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 3 to 5 pm at the Administration Building for anyone ages four and up. Just bring your insurance card and ID. No appointment is necessary. If you don't have insurance you can call our nurses at 1-248-658-5233.

As we near the weekend we wanted to get out that our second Pop Up Literacy event will take place next Wednesday, July 7, from 1 to 2:30 pm at Scout Park. Meet author Mark Crilley and learn how he creates his stories and artwork.

We're excited to have our first Pop Up Literacy event of the summer. It will take place on Wednesday, June 30, from 1 to 3 pm at Scout Park. There will be a lot of funs things to do so please come join us.

We will still be distributing meals to our families over the summer. This begins on Wednesday, June 16, from 10 am to 1 pm behind the high school.

Hazel Park Schools has partnered with Gleaners Community Food Bank to bring the School Mobile Food Pantry to our students and their families. Food distribution will take place on Wednesday, June 16 beginning at 9 am at the Ford Administration Building (1620 E. Elza) and going until supplies last. The menu, which is subject to change, includes Whole Chicken, Spaghetti Noodles, Orange Juice, Green Split Peas, Raisins, Spaghetti Sauce, Canned Kidney Beans, and Canned Applesauce.

If you had your first COVID-19 Vaccine shot at our Pop-Up Clinic back on May 22, don't forget that your second shot will take place on Saturday, June 12, from 10 am to 2 pm.

Our Gleaners School Moblie Food Pantry will be at the Administration office 1620, East Elza, today beginning between 9 and 9:30 am.
The menu, which is subject to change, will be:
-- Canned Chicken
-- Elbow Macaroni
-- White Rice
-- Roasted Almonds
-- Green Split Peas
-- Peanut Butter
-- Raisins
-- Canned Applesauce
Please make sure there is enough room in there to place all the items.
Gleaners has set new rules that we may not place the items in your backseat or hand them to you directly. We will have a table set up where you can pull up off to the side, exit your vehicle, and take the items off the table. This table will be cleaned in between each person. Someone will guide you where to pull up to.
Come early, please stay in your car. Line up going down Elza in front of the playground we will come to you with the paperwork. There is no pre-registration required. Do not exit your vehicle when in the area of the volunteers we will open your trunk if it closes when we are placing the boxes in the trunk. Please wear a mask to protect the volunteer that will be filling out the paperwork on your behalf and to protect you and your family.
Gleaners rules are you may only pick up for your household only.

Don't forget to sign up to receive your free COVID-19 Vaccine at the clinic we've partnered with Walgreens to have Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 10 am to 6 pm inside the High School cafeteria. You can schedule an appointment for anyone 12 years old. Here is an article that ran in the Daily Tribune.
