Happy Monday!
Are you measuring your oils out before placing them in a pan? One tablespoon of oils is 14g of fat.. that’s 126 calories in just one tablespoon! 🧐 (for most oils)
You could be stagnant in your weight loss goals for this particular reason. You’re in taking more calories than you even realize!
Before you prepare dinner, grab a tablespoon and measure your oil out!
You don’t have to get rid of oil altogether, just be mindful next time. It’s good to be aware of what you’re putting into your body. 🥰🙌🏼

“And they were lovely because He loved them.” I read that line from ’ masterpiece “The Jesus Storybook Bible” to my daughter this morning and it brought tears to my eyes. ⁣

We all want to be lovely. It seems we spend most of our lives striving to achieve loveliness in one way or another. I have used many things like diet and exercise, makeup, people pleasing, even serving at church to grab ahold of a quality that has been mine from creation. ⁣

God made us. He calls us VERY GOOD because we bear His image. We are His children and He loves us. This makes you LOVELY apart from anything you do or don’t do. ⁣

Let’s live like we believe it!⁣

I often don’t understand God’s timing (or time in general for that matter... just ask my husband 😆), but I do believe it is purposeful and perfect. Do you feel late to the fitness game? Behind or discouraged?

Well we have some good news for you: In Christ, you are right on time.
This moment is where we get to experience God. Right now is the place where we can trust Him.
What if we stopped letting a self (or world) imposed timeline get us down?

What if a detour no longer stops us in our tracks? “Coulda, shoulda, woulda” does not have power over us!

After all, God’s plan allows for twists and turns. His Kingdom is beyond time itself ✨

Let’s talk EGGS 🥚. You either love them or hate them, am I right? 🤔 eggs are an overlooked source of protein!
The yolk is a great source of vitamins A, B1, B6, B12, D, and folate 🙌🏼 not to mention a source of Omega-3 fats! 1-2 yolks a day is such a healthy addition to your diet! Don’t fear the yolk! 🙌🏼
The egg white is low calorie, a fantastic way to get protein in, cholesterol and fat free, and also contains magnesium, potassium, and more!
▶️Add 1-2 full eggs into your breakfast 🍳 for the rich health benefits!
▶️Add in egg whites to substitute water in some recipes to get more protein in! 💪🏼
⏺The best eggs are free range! The darker color yolk, the better the taste! 👍🏼
⏺You can buy pasteurized egg whites to add to any meal/snack!

Turn your next “friend date” into something active!
Life can be BUSY... Sometimes it’s hard to find time to pursue both friendship and fitness. So when we can double up on the good stuff- that’s a win!
Great conversation ✅ Exercise ✅

Instead of just grabbing coffee together, maybe you could take a walk. Or catch up on life in between sets at the gym. Get creative and let us know how you maximize your time!

Hi friends... Corrie here 💁🏻‍♀️ Tomorrow is “check in day” with my coach Karli (aka the other half of Edify the Body Fitness 👯‍♀️). She is going to ask me questions about my exercise sessions, eating habits, the quality of my sleep, how I’m managing stress, etc. Even more importantly, she is going to ask me about my thought life, attitude & heart. Accountability is certainly much easier to avoid than to pursue. But it’s the key to progress... not just in fitness, but in spirituality, work, finances, relationships, LIFE! Beyond progress & results, accountability helps us to live with integrity.

Allow me to introduce you to my colorful daily sidekicks Simplified Planner & Cultivate What Matters . Why do I cart these around (along with a bag of colorful pens)? Because intentionality matters. It’s part of being made in the image of an intentional God.
But it doesn’t just matter that we are thoughtful & deliberate. We also have to consider where our intentions are aimed. When our hearts are made new in Christ, we are actually able to aim toward God instead of ourselves. Yet these hearts of ours are prone to wander, so we need to constantly reevaluate and re-center. There are many ways, by grace, that God does this work in our hearts and lives. Isn’t that amazing?! Which brings me back to these practical tools for intentional living- As one month ends and another begins, I’m setting aside time to look back at May and forward to June... trusting God to use my schedule and daily/weekly/monthly choices for His very good purposes. Whether that’s meal prepping, workouts, Bible Study or time with my family. I’ll be reevaluating the big picture + my priorities and my desires. My favorite part is acknowledging and celebrating all the ways Jesus is so faithful and kind to me. How do you strive for intentionality? Let us know in the comments!

Corrie here 💁🏻‍♀️ Karli said something to me today that resonated so deeply- “Your body responds better to love and true care than starvation and abuse.”
The world thinks that discipline automatically means punishment, but that isn’t God’s way. Discipline is a sign of love and belonging... “It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?” (Hebrews‬ ‭12:7‬)
So as we strive for discipline with eating and exercise, what would it mean to act more like God in our efforts? We can work from a position of knowing we are loved and sustained by Jesus. Whether we see the outside results we are after or not, we can treat ourselves (and others) with more love and care along the way.
Practically speaking, perhaps we can respond to a setback with more grace and understanding. Eating too much or missing a workout doesn’t mean you have to under eat and over exercise to “make up for it.” Let’s reset and start again, knowing that God is after our hearts not our waistlines.

Happy Meal Prepping!
These protein energy bites are a perfect snack when you’re starting out a busy week!
Tag a friend who could use a new snack idea for quick prep and easy clean up! Full recipe below 👩‍🍳 Peanut Butter Energy Bites
Ingredients for 5 bites:
-1 tablespoon of honey
-1/2 cup of steel cut oats
-3 tablespoons PB of choice (peanut butter powder to save calories)
-1.5 tablespoon coconut flakes
-2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips

How to:
Put all of your ingredients into a bowl and mix together! Use a spoon/scoop to roll bites into small bitesize balls! Store away in the fridge until you’re ready to dive in. It’s that easy, my friends! Try it out and tag us to let us know how it goes :)

A note from the Co-Founder of Edify the Body Fitness 👋🏼 My name is Karli Barrett. I am a wife to Ricky Barrett, a dog mom, a follower of Jesus, and a health enthusiast. My husband and I moved to Central Florida in the summer of 2016 and never looked back. In our first year of marriage, I had the itch to follow in my passion of Health and Fitness. That’s when I became a NASM certified personal trainer in 2017.
Since then, God has grown this itch into a strong passion that cannot be tamed. Monday through Friday I’m up long before the sun to pour into the lives of my clients. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else and feel incredibly blessed to play such a big part in the fitness and health community.
Not long ago, I felt that there was more I was being called to. I wanted to reach more people and encourage the body of believers through health and fitness, specifically. I believe there is a strong connection between physical health and spiritual health. That’s when Edify the Body Fitness came to life.
