Happy Nurses Day to my Nurse family! ♥️♥️
Being a Nurse is absolutely a calling, I have no doubt about that. My calling came in 2003 when I made the decision to switch majors and head into this career without realizing how difficult it would be, but also how rewarding it would be. I graduated in 2006, and now 14 years later, and during a pandemic, I couldn’t be more proud to be a nurse!
Throughout my career I have been brought to tears for so many reasons. From the happiest of reasons, to the saddest. I have had the opportunity to hold a new mother’s hand while we both cried tears of joy. I have sat on the floor in the doorway of a hospital room with a grieving wife while we cried together over the loss of her husband. I have cried from watching coworkers do extraordinary caring things. I’ve cried after a rough shift, I’ve cried tears of pride too. Lately I cry for my nurse brothers and sisters who have been hustling on the frontline battling a war, and for my nurse brothers and sisters that I’ve lost. And I’m sad to say, it’s been too many.
If there’s any one word to describe a nurse it’s RESILIENCY!! There’s always jokes that we can clean up a CDiff patient and immediately go eat lunch (which happens so often!!)...but we also know when to stop, take a few minutes, and have silly moments...because it is so needed! Our norm (unfortunately) is tense and sad, stressful and upsetting, with happy successes thrown in here and there. And in between all of these moments, I’m so grateful for the nurses in my life who have been there to lend a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, a huge hug. Thank you to all of the nurses in my life! I knew you guys were superheroes long before this pandemic, but now the world knows.
HAPPY NURSES WEEK!!!! Now take a few minutes, watch this video, enjoy some Queen and hopefully have a little laugh ♥️♥️
This is my love letter to my fellow nurses! It is both rewarding and challenging to be a nurse right now. Working and taking care of patients during the pand...
