Humanity of Healthcare What is your passion for being in healthcare and what keeps you engaged each day to continue serving others? I'm on a mission. Our jobs are not easy. Reminisce.

I'm embarking on a journey to help healthcare workers rediscover why they dove into this field. I want the patients and friends/family of the patients to see the human side of the healthcare workers. I want each field of healthcare to start to understand what the other fields go through. I want everyone who has contact with any patient to remember the first moment they decided to jump into this field. And now that you're here, why do you keep coming back? What compels you to go to work every single day? We deal with many unpleasant things that many others could not. Yet, we go on. We flourish and we continue to move forward. We have dedicated our lives to helping others...WHY?? This is the page to share our stories (HIPAA laws of course apply). This is the page to express the core of why we are so drawn to this field. This is the page for all of us to take a moment to reflect on our own history of how we got to where we are. This is a page for everyone else to see as well. Take a moment. Reinvigorate that passion to care for others. We save lives every single day...let's all share our stories about why we do it.

This year, for the first time, Santa Claus wasn’t going able to stop by and see the kids at the Ronald McDonald House on the Upper East Side.

Even as Hurricane Laura bore down on a hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana, someone had to watch the babies.

Proud to be a New York Nurse!!!

At the height of the COVID-19 crisis in New York this past spring, for many on the frontlines the light at the end of the tunnel was hard to find.

“I just did my job”.... nurses rock!

The photo of a Lebanese nurse carrying three new-born babies to safety from a badly damaged hospital became the face of the catastrophic Beirut blast. Today we hear the story behind the photo from the nurse, Pamela Zaynoun and the photographer, Bilal Jawish, who captured the moment.

I’ve been MIA for a while... sorry about that. Life has been all sorts of crazy! Saw this story and couldn’t help but share with my healthcare friends!!

Children and their families who come to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt for their care are used to seeing the friendly faces and smiles of staff, nurses and doctors.

Two black women paid for a Tennessee deputy's breakfast at a Nashville Cracker Barrel, leaving a heartfelt note for the officer as well.

Happy Nurses Day to my Nurse family! ♥️♥️

Being a Nurse is absolutely a calling, I have no doubt about that. My calling came in 2003 when I made the decision to switch majors and head into this career without realizing how difficult it would be, but also how rewarding it would be. I graduated in 2006, and now 14 years later, and during a pandemic, I couldn’t be more proud to be a nurse!

Throughout my career I have been brought to tears for so many reasons. From the happiest of reasons, to the saddest. I have had the opportunity to hold a new mother’s hand while we both cried tears of joy. I have sat on the floor in the doorway of a hospital room with a grieving wife while we cried together over the loss of her husband. I have cried from watching coworkers do extraordinary caring things. I’ve cried after a rough shift, I’ve cried tears of pride too. Lately I cry for my nurse brothers and sisters who have been hustling on the frontline battling a war, and for my nurse brothers and sisters that I’ve lost. And I’m sad to say, it’s been too many.

If there’s any one word to describe a nurse it’s RESILIENCY!! There’s always jokes that we can clean up a CDiff patient and immediately go eat lunch (which happens so often!!)...but we also know when to stop, take a few minutes, and have silly moments...because it is so needed! Our norm (unfortunately) is tense and sad, stressful and upsetting, with happy successes thrown in here and there. And in between all of these moments, I’m so grateful for the nurses in my life who have been there to lend a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, a huge hug. Thank you to all of the nurses in my life! I knew you guys were superheroes long before this pandemic, but now the world knows.

HAPPY NURSES WEEK!!!! Now take a few minutes, watch this video, enjoy some Queen and hopefully have a little laugh ♥️♥️

This is my love letter to my fellow nurses! It is both rewarding and challenging to be a nurse right now. Working and taking care of patients during the pand...
