❄️ Today’s delight, kissed by frost ❄️
🐿️ WALNUTS 🐿️
/ˈwɔːl.nʌts/
Crunchy, nutrient-dense nuts rich in omega-3s, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
Walnuts support heart, brain, and gut health, provide antioxidants, and may help with weight management. A winter snack that’s both delicious and nourishing.
1️⃣ Myth: Walnuts are too fatty to be healthy.
✨ Fact: Most of the fat in walnuts comes from heart-healthy omega-3s and unsaturated fats, which can lower cholesterol, reduce inflammation, and improve blood vessel function, supporting heart health without overloading calories.
2️⃣ Myth: Walnuts don’t benefit the brain.
✨ Fact: Walnuts are packed with omega-3s, vitamin E, and polyphenols, which support cognitive function, protect brain cells, and may slow age-related mental decline, making them true “brain food.”
3️⃣ Myth: Walnuts are just snacks, not good for overall wellness.
✨ Fact: Walnuts provide magnesium, copper, manganese, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds, supporting skin, bone health, weight management, and even reducing oxidative stress, a small nut with big benefits. Their fiber content also promotes healthy bowel movements and feeds beneficial gut bacteria, helping digestion stay regular and balanced.
🐻❄️ྀིྀི Try this Walnut Snowball Cookies:
In a large bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1½ cups finely chopped walnuts, 2 tbsp sugar, and a pinch of salt, then stir in 1 tsp vanilla extract. Cut in 1 stick (113 g) unsalted butter until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes. Form small walnut-sized balls, place them on the baking sheet at least 1 inch apart, and bake at 150°C for 35 minutes. While still warm but touchable, roll the cookies in about 1 cup powdered sugar, let cool completely, and dust again for a snowy treat.
Christmas walnot be the same without them!
