Trust that.

It’s far from easy - there are SO many ways that family/friends/doctors/society place pressure on you while you’re trying to conceive.

But know the decisions you make on your fertility journey are always the right ones. As long as you make them for you.

Yesterday was my last day at as we prepare to move back to Sydney…

I’ve spent 4 years teaching here and there were definitely a couple of tears as I finished up 😥

The last 4 years haven’t been easy on anyone (looking at you covid). But especially not on small businesses. While we had to close for a few months over lockdown, and then re-open to ever changing restrictions & new health policies, Real handled it with grace.

But what I’ll never forget about this place is how they handled my fertility challenges. I can’t remember the number of times I called my managers in tears because I’d had a failed treatment, lost embryos, or had to extend my IVF cycle.

The hardest part about my work during this whole journey was teaching so many pregnant women. I’d watch these beautiful bumps coming into class & I’d smile as much as I could.

But when we lost a baby in mid-2020, I just couldn’t do it anymore. I needed time to heal & rebalance, and I spent 3 months away from work.

I am so lucky that I had supportive employers through such a difficult stage of my life. The more I work with women struggling through infertility, the more I realise how rare this is.

One question I've been asked a lot lately is...
"How can I connect more closely with my partner as we navigate the fertility journey?"

I've thought about this a lot, and to be honest, I feel I struggled to get things "right" with my husband as we were trying to conceive.

So instead, I asked what he thought…how can you support someone while they're going through this journey? And how can you stay connected when it feels like your world is falling down around you?

He's written an article for my website this month to speak to all of this and more. I may be a little biased, but it's a beautiful read & so worth taking a few minutes to go through.

I’m so excited to be joining for a live IG event this week. Monika & I connected deeply over journeys off loss, trauma and finding yourself again after so much heartache. Join us on Friday 24 February, at 10am EST.

During this event, we’ll be discussing Yoga, IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy) and how these therapies can support you through your experiences of trauma and loss.

Monika is a certified trauma, grief and perinatal loss specialist, poet, and activist. Her practice specializes in Internal Family Systems (IFS)-based therapeutic coaching for individuals who’ve experienced trauma, grief, and/or perinatal loss. She founded her practice in 2016, after experiencing her own inner transformation. Her mission to serve others is personal, as she is also a complex trauma survivor and loss mom to 3 babies.

Monika provides a compassionate and empowering safe space for her clients to unpack their past traumas and losses so they can come to a place of compassionate understanding, integration and meaningful connection in their lives.

Sending my love this Christmas to all of the amazing people in this community.

I know for so many this isn’t the easiest time of year.

I’m thinking about all of you who have struggled to fall pregnant this year, those who have lost babies, lost embryos, those who are dealing with a diagnosis, waiting for treatment or results or answers…

And especially to those who feel like they’re being left behind.

Take a moment to spoil yourself this weekend & do something that you love.

Remember next week is the start of a new year. A new of year possibility. A new year of hope.

This isn’t something we often stop to consider. But your nervous system will recognise you’re at capacity long before you do.

And this can signal to your brain “now is not a good time to conceive”

We don’t realise that allowing space in our lives - both physically & emotionally - signals to our brain (and to the universe) that we’re ready.

Are these unconscious beliefs stopping you from falling pregnant?

When someone first suggested this to me, I thought it sounded WAY too woo-woo.

But when I delved a little deeper into the way trauma (whether that’s big or small trauma) is stored within the body, it started to make a lot of sense.

We can forget little things that happened to us, even from long ago (and especially from our childhood).

But the body never forgets.

The Two Week Wait is an incredibly difficult time when you’re trying to conceive.

It’s filled with hope, anxiety, what-if's and a whole lot of praying.

If you’re looking for some survival tips to make those 14 days more bearable, keep swiping left 👉🏼 and if you’re looking for the bumper sticker version, here it goes:

🤎Call in support from people who “get it”
🤎Try meditation and breathing techniques - this helps calm your nervous system & signal to your brain that you’re safe & that now is an excellent time to conceive
🤎Bring on the endorphins - AKA the feel good hormones
🤎Get it out of your head - writing down how you feel (the good & the bad) helps to clear mental space
🤎Set a limit on testing - step away from the pregnancy tests! (I know, I know, easier said than done)

DON’T BE LIKE ME!

At the height of my craziness during my fertility journey, the list of ALL THE THINGS I was doing/avoiding to fall pregnant was long.

Very long. Exhaustingly long.

I look back now & I realise it’s no surprise I didn’t fall pregnant.
