A client once told me:“Everyone always says I’m so easy-going. So chill. So low maintenance.”She paused. Then added:“But I feel like I’m constantly suppressing what I really want to say. Like I don’t even know what my needs are anymore.”And that’s when it hit me:The labels we give as compliments? They’re often clues to someone’s biggest wounds. We admire what we see…But sometimes what we’re really seeing is the armor they’ve learned to wear.Because being “easy-going” might be code for:“I never felt safe enough to take up space.”Being “independent” might mean:“No one ever showed up for me.”Being “successful” might mean:“I’m still trying to prove I’m enough.”So if you’re carrying a compliment that feels more like a burden… That’s your sign. You don’t have to wear it forever. You get to unlearn. Reclaim. Heal.Want help unpacking what’s under the mask? That’s what I do.Drop a line if you relate. 🫶🏻
