In this week’s episode of the Active Bariatric Nutrition podcast, I discuss a variety of nutrition strategies that can be helpful in preventing reactive hypoglycemia after bariatric surgery and when you increase your movement.

⏰One of the key strategies is being more mindful around timing of meals to prevent going long periods without any nutrition or having larger more quick to digest carbohydrate based foods or snacks at one time. Ideally, aim to eat every 3-4 hours including protein paired with complex carbohydrates that include fiber as well as healthy fats. Eating more balanced plates will help slow digestion and absorption and prevent more erratic swings of blood sugar both high and low.

🚨As a reminder, to manage reactive hypoglycemia, please reach out to your doctor or endocrinologist as well as a Registered Dietitian who can help you adjust your daily nutrition.

🎧To learn more easy to implement and evidence-based nutrition strategies to manage reactive hypoglycemia, tune in to the Active Bariatric Nutrition podcast episode 81 wherever you listen to your podcasts or click on link below:

✨ After bariatric surgery, it doesn’t matter what workout you start with — it matters that you start.

Whether it’s:
💪 Bands at home
🏋️ Your local gym
🏃‍♀️ Group classes like Orangetheory or CrossFit
🏋️‍♂️ Working with a personal trainer

👉 Any activity you choose will help you get better at it and stronger over time. The habit is what builds consistency, and consistency is what builds results. Find something you enjoy and can stick to.
