THIS IS WHO WE ARE, THIS IS WHAT WE DO...
MDFEME is a community of female doctors of diverse backgrounds. Our lives crossed paths through our pursuit of medicine. We met during medical school and residency, and our common love for the art of medicine has nurtured our connection, and helped us remain friends for many years. This unique collective was formed to create a platform where we could share openly and honestly.
It is our hope that by being transparent about our personal experiences we will help other female doctors and our patients share about their experiences. Storytelling is one of the oldest forms of learning. It is the way that many cultures have passed down traditions and lessons. Oratory histories allow us to express the tumults and the traumas. In our modern society doctors are being told to see more patients at a faster rate to turn a higher profit. Patients feel as if they are on a conveyor belt or assembly line just being whisked in and out of offices and exam rooms. It’s time to change the paradigm and shift the narrative. It is time to listen.
We want to help everyday people see that your doctor is human and often making huge sacrifices to balance their lives with their profession.
We want our colleagues to have a safe space to share their concerns, free from judgment, guilt and retaliation.
