Yes!!

If I could go back, I’d spend way more time on these 8 tools no one talks about in dentistry.

Most dentists won’t bring them up. But these change everything for your mouth and your overall health.

I didn’t learn this in dental school. I learned it as a dad, a patient, and a dentist who kept asking questions about it how the mouth is connected to the health of EVERY OTHER bodily function.

Which of these are already part of your routine?

The way we breathe can influence our thought processes.

Mouth Breather Face and Nose Breathing Face
Did you know the way you breathe can shape your face? Let's break it down. ⬇️
🌟 The Nose Breather Face:
When a child habitually breathes through their nose, the tongue rests on the roof of the mouth, guiding proper jaw development. This leads to:
✅ Forward jaw growth
✅ High cheekbones
✅ A strong, well-defined jawline
✅ Wider airways for better breathing
This is why nasal breathing is crucial for optimal facial growth, airflow, and overall health.
😮 The Mouth Breather Face:
Mouth breathing disrupts this natural development. Without the tongue shaping the palate:
🚫 The jaws grow backward
🚫 The airways become smaller
🚫 Cheekbones lose definition
🚫 Posture, muscle strength, and breathing efficiency suffer
Over time, this can result in tired eyes, a recessed chin, and even impaired athletic performance. Chronic mouth breathing is also linked to poor sleep, reduced energy, and concentration issues.
💡 "Children who mouth breathe often struggle with sleep quality, growth, and even academic performance," explains Dr. Josh Jefferson. These children are sometimes misdiagnosed with ADD or hyperactivity when the root issue is obstructed airways.
Let's spread awareness of the importance of nasal breathing to support healthy facial development and better overall health. Start today—breathe through your nose! 🌬️💙

What Does the Shape of Your Palate Mean? 😬

Did you know the shape of your palate can impact more than just your smile?

A high-arched, narrow palate might be a sign of developmental issues that can affect:

🛌 Sleep: Narrow airways can contribute to snoring and sleep apnea.

💨 Breathing: A smaller palate leaves less room for proper nasal breathing.

🗣️ Speech: It can influence the way sounds are formed.

🦷 Oral health: Crowded teeth and jaw alignment are often linked.

How we use our tongue and the foods we eat during childhood play a huge role in shaping the palate.

👅 When the tongue rests properly at the roof of the mouth, it helps widen and maintain the palate and promote nasal breathing!

🥕 Eating whole, tough foods encourages proper chewing, which aids in jaw and palate development.
