Evaporative Dry Eye πŸ‘οΈπŸ’¨

Evaporative dry eye happens when your tears dry up too quickly, even though your eyes may be making enough tears.

🧠 Why does this happen?
The outer oil layer of your tears isn’t working properly β€” often due to blocked or poor-quality oil glands (meibomian glands). Without enough oil, tears evaporate faster.

πŸ”₯ Common symptoms

Burning or stinging

Gritty or sandy feeling

Redness

Blurry vision that comes and goes

Worse with screens, air-conditioning, or wind

πŸ” Common causes

Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD)

Prolonged screen use (less blinking)

Contact lens wear

Dry or air-conditioned environment

Myth busting!
Will wearing glasses make my eyesight worse?

No β€” wearing glasses does not make your eyesight worse. πŸ‘“

They just correct how light enters the eye so you can see clearly.

Your prescription can change over time, but that’s due to natural eye growth, ageing, or eye conditions β€” not because you wore glasses.

Not wearing glasses won’t β€œstrengthen” your eyes. In fact, it can lead to eye strain, headaches, or blurry vision.

Kids and teens often need prescription updates as their eyes grow β€” this would happen whether or not they wore glasses.

Adults may notice changes from things like presbyopia (age-related near vision changes), again unrelated to glasses use.

Your eye is like a tiny, amazing camera πŸ‘οΈβœ¨

The tear film keeps it smooth and protected πŸ’§

The cornea bends light to focus it πŸ”

The lens fine-tunes your focus πŸ‘“

The macula helps you see fine details 🎯

And the optic nerve sends it all to your brain 🧠

Every layer works together so you can see the world clearly! πŸŒŽπŸ‘€

Ever wake up with sore, red, or irritated eyes? 😩 It might not just be β€œdry eyes.” 😴

Floppy Eyelid Syndrome (FES) is a condition where the eyelids are unusually loose and may not close properly during sleep. This exposes the eye surface overnight, leading to redness, irritation, discharge, and blurry vision in the morning. πŸ‘οΈ

What’s important to know is that Floppy Eyelid Syndrome is strongly linked to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). πŸ’‘
