Why guy’s night? Umm cuz they’re awesome! Not only are they a lot of fun but research shows that male bonding has a positive affect on; mood, stress levels, immune systems, levels of generosity, sense of belonging and more.

Life is busier than ever so it’s important to make time for things that are important by scheduling them. You don’t miss an appointment but ‘hang out sometime’ can easily turn into weeks, months or not at all if something is not scheduled.

It also boosts dopamine levels. Remember, dopamine is about anticipation so having something scheduled will give you regular boosts when you think about the activity leading up to is.

Happy Birthday Babe!

This photo was taken almost a year ago… back when we had no idea what we were in for. As wild as the last year was, I am grateful everyday for having someone so positive, patient, supportive, calm and loving as a teammate. Dumpling and I are lucky to have you

Ran the Vancouver 1/2 Marathon this weekend and about 5k in knew I just didn’t have the juice I needed to meet my goal for the day. I only had about 70% but decided that I was going to give all 70%. Was satisfied with the result but importantly, realized that if you only have 70% that day and you give all 70% then you gave 100% of what you have. A good reminder that every day won’t be our best but there is no reason we can’t show up and give our best possible effort for the day.

Really want to do something nice for dad this Father’s Day? Tell him you are proud of him for a specific thing. His work ethic, his discipline, his humour, his resiliency. You’ll probably get a ‘thanks’ or 👍 as a response but it’ll mean more than you’ll ever know.

After 250 days in the NICU our little one graduated and came home on Wednesday. Madison was born unexpectedly at 23.6 weeks on September 27th weighing 540 grams. It was a wild ride full of ups and downs but we are so grateful that we were in the right place with the right people. The amazing team at supported our family so much and we will never be able to thank them enough. Thank you to our friends, family and everyone who reached out or kept us in their hearts. The journey has just begun but Madison is doing well and we are grateful for so many things during this experience. We’ve loved and learned so much. When life gets hard, gratitude truly is the guiding star that keeps us going in the right direction.

Honoured to have received the Marthe Dubroy volunteer of the year award at the banquet last week. When my uncle asked me 20 years ago to help coach with it sounded like a fun way to give back. Volunteering has been so much more than just fun. It’s been fun, engaging, challenging, rewarding and purposeful. It’s evolved over the years. In addition to coaching, I’ve been a Director for 15 years and the President for the last 5 years. I’m grateful for being asked, grateful for saying yes and grateful for all of the experiences (even the tough ones) that I’ve had.

Discipline is learned. The good news is that it’s not too hard to learn it, the tough news is that… well it requires small moments of discomfort. We often think that discomfort is our limit but discomfort is where we grow.

One day you’re talking to a buddy about running a 10k in Seattle and over 6 weeks the plan morphs into a great weekend away in Memphis and Nashville. Lesson learned - it’s good to be open to something new.
