What does that mean? Every time we get ill or have an injury where we need to be physically inactive to recover, we in doing so lose our precious muscle mass.
Right now, I am nursing myself better through a seasonal flu type illness. Body aches, fatigue, etc are keeping me from my exercise.
According to Lyon, protein, particularly the amino acid, leucine has been shown to stimulate muscle maintenance and growth. It helps to be exercising but Gabrielle Lyon talks in her book “Forever Strong” that when unable to exercise, getting 2.5g in first meal of the day may help to prevent or reduce muscle loss during downtimes such as illness or injury.
Got my ultra-filtered whey shake with strawberry and banana with intention to stop loss this morning!
