How it all started

HI, I AM KAREN FROM HOTSAUCELOVINMOM.COM

I am a mom to a beautiful Mexican-Malaysian Chinese boy and a wife to a Mexican Chef.

I studied Computer Science, completed my Bachelor Degree majoring in Software Engineering but my first job as a programmer didn’t last more than a month.

A self taught web designer back in the late 90s, I spent my earlier years building websites for small companies in my hometown. Although my salary then was only RM800, I was happy because building website is my passion.

I got my big break when I got a job in Kuala Lumpur which subcontracted me to Microsoft Malaysia. I spent a good 3 years maintaining Microsoft Malaysia’s website before I moved on to WebGuru Asia and then XM Malaysia (Digital Agencies) as a Project Manager.

Fast forward a few years later, I joined a few good companies but the one that I enjoyed the most was my time with AirAsia.

Over the years in Malaysia and Thailand, I led and work along side the regional team on social media, digital buys (SEM, Programmatic buys, FB marketing, Display ads), CRM and video production.

In August 2019, I quit my job to be a work-at-home mom as well as to focus on the hot sauce brand that my husband and I have created.

Why blogging?

I’ve always love to write since I was 8 or 9 years old because it releases me from my unhappy thoughts. So it came as no surprise that I too, used to blog in the Yahoo!GeoCities days.

I decided to blog again in 2020. Now a work-at-home mom taking care of an active 5 year old boy with a business to run, I needed an outlet for my creative energy and to help me put things into perspective.

I hope I would be able to share useful tips to new mothers who are just starting out in their work-at-home journey.
