When summer gives you extreme heat, make sun tea!

It’s that time still to gather your herbs together in a delicious blend, add some spring water and let the sun do its magic.

Sipping on iced herbal tea all day is so refreshing & a wonderful way to connect with the energy of the summer season.

My favorite tea blend - all grown : rosemary, hibiscus, oat straw, peppermint, lemon balm 🌿🌟 Very hydrating, cooling & delicious.

Join us for an intimate gathering in sisterhood! We will explore how nourishing herbs and mindful rituals can support women's health and wellbeing throughout the natural cycles of our bodies and lives. We will learn about many wonderful plant allies for PMS, peri-menopause, and menopause and overall women’s nourishment!

We will gather in a peaceful space with healing sound bowls played live to ground us in the present moment. Together, we will taste herbal infusions made with organic herbs grown from my regenerative biodynamic farm, that bring us more vitality, balance, nutrition and health.

This class will teach you about the soothing power of nourishing infusions, plant medicines, and rituals for different phases of the month.

You will receive a sample of herbs to bring home at the end.

Class taught by Herbalists, Tammy Kattner, Rebecca Goldman & Paulina Rose

July 31st • 2:30 - 4:30 pm
$45 per person. All herbs & materials provided. Link in bio!

Nature-deficit disorder 😔

In his book Last Child in the Woods, Richard louv speaks deeply about this issue. Children today are at a greater risk of suffering from nature-deficit disorder, which causes an atrophy of the senses. This creates a cultural autism (dulled senses & feelings of isolation). We risk physical and mental health when our senses become disconnected and weakened.

Progress speeds us forward and children are spending more time in a virtual world, the result is human connections tend to suffer. Perhaps the solution is not to slow progress, as it brings its own kind of beauty, but the goal is to balance the increasing influence of media and technology by bringing more nature into our children’s lives.

The more we connect with the outside world the more we increase our naturalist intelligence. This means increasing our sensory skills, including sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch. Heightening our abilities to notice and categorize things from the natural world using pattern recognition strategies.

It is our goal, hope and intention with our Farm/Nature school to help set the stage for the modern child to find their place within nature a little bit more comfortably and enjoyable so that they can connect with what is inherently special within themself & the beauty of the world around them.

Lemon Bee Balm (Monarda citriodora): growing all over . I harvested a ton, drying a bunch to use later in teas, made some bee balm infused honey (delish) and tinctured the fresh flowers.

This gorgeous plant, adored by the bees, has potent medicinal properties. Prized for its antimicrobial properties, bee balm helps kill germs, such as viruses & bacteria, it’s anti-inflammatory, helps with sore throats & coughs, moves stagnation in the body, carminative…just to name a few.

Bee balm is spicy, warming, stimulating, and diffusive, with its taste is similar to thyme and oregano. Makes a great culinary spice as well.

Nature provides all we need with such beauty!

Support Your Immune System this Winter by Lovin’ on your Lymph!

Surprisingly, your lymphatic system has a lot to do with your immune system. Your lymphatic fluid carries white blood cells (these help the body fight infections & diseases), helps remove toxins, supports skin health, serves as very important waters of your body that creates a flow – when lymph is ‘off’, you may feel sluggish, congested, stagnate! Support the lymph to keep the waters flowing & you’ll feel more alive & be healthier during the season.

Herbs to help: Warming herbs: Turmeric, cinnamon, cardamon, ginger.

Lymphatic specific herbs: Calendula, red clover, cleavers, astragalus root!

I like to drink, once a week, a quart infusion of red clover tea. I sip warm Calendula tea on cold days or add it to different tea blends for a fun tea to sip on all day. I make (just about daily) an afternoon decadent delicious cup of herbal hot chocolate (aka: medicinal mushroom Cacao elixir)! In this elixir, I add turmeric, cinnamon, cardamon, ground ginger, medicinal mushrooms, maca, astragalus! Tis’ the season for Chai teas as well.

Movement is important to move your Lymph, blood and waters of your body (doesn’t need to be intense for this to happen). Movement moves the lymph and that is what we want.

Dry brushing also helps to move your lymph and is such a beautiful self-care practice.

Herbal baths & body oiling are also wonderful winter health supporters.

What do you like to do to stay healthy during this time of year?
