🎄What’s on your SLP Christmas List?

Honestly, there’s about a dozen things I’d add to this list, but the top 5 things I’d put on my holiday wish list would include the following:

✔️ A MANAGEABLE caseload and workload
✔️ Impenetrable immune system
✔️ Huge office with a WINDOW
✔️ Supportive admin, staff, and parents
✔️ Unlimited caffeine

A higher salary and perfectly behaved therapy students would be an added bonus too 😉

What are your biggest wants and needs on your wish list? Sound off in the comments below! ⬇️

Is your child’s speech development on track? 🤔

A cross-linguistic review by McLeod and Crowe (2018) reviewed 64 studies from 31 countries to analyze the development of speech sounds across multiple languages.

Further analysis of this data was done across 15 studies of 18,907 children for English in the United States (Crowe and McLeod, 2020). The analysis reported the following:

Children are able to produce English speech sounds relatively early, with most sounds acquired by 4 years of age, and almost all speech sounds acquired by the age of 7.

Let’s break it down further. Speech sounds should be acquired by the following ages:

2-3 years: P, B, D, M, N, H, W
3-4 years: T, K, G, NG, F, Y
4-5 years: V, S, Z, SH, CH, J, L
5-6 years: Voiced TH, ZH, R
6-7 years: Voiceless TH

If your child’s is not meeting these benchmarks, it might be time to reach out to a speech-language pathologist (SLP) for more information.
