Thousands of studies published in the most reputable journals make it clear:
A plant-based diet can be a great way to slash your risk of heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, and obesity — and a great way to be part of the solution on planet Earth.
But while more people than ever are going plant-based, many of them aren't getting the nutrients they need.
That means they could miss out on some of the astounding health benefits, including immune health, heart health, brain health, and weight loss. And they could end up tired, weak, iron deficient, or even at risk for serious disease.
As a Certified Holistic health Coach and a 20 year plant based veteran below are some tips for making sure you're getting all the nutrients you need on a plant-based diet:
* Eat a variety of plant-based foods. This includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds.
* Include protein sources. This could include beans, lentils, tofu, tempeh, or seitan.
* Get enough iron. Good sources of iron include spinach, lentils, and fortified cereals.
* Talk to a certified health/nutrition coach. A health/nutrition coach can help you create a plant-based diet that meets your individual needs.
Going plant-based is a great way to improve your health and help the planet. But it's important to make sure you're getting all the nutrients you need.
