Monday Oracle!
Every Monday I post an Oracle card from Brian Froud's Fairies Oracle deck, as a little motivator to keep in mind for the coming week.
Sorry I missed last week, got lost between the big tarot reading and my day job. My deck fell off my desk today as a reminder from Them that they need to be heard this week...
Did the Soul Shrinker serve you well last time? Please do let me know in the comments below!
Week of March 14th: Spirit Dancer
The Spirit Dancer is a spirit of creativity and self expression; a reminder that art is an expression of self, and an insight into the observers as well.
Creativity is important to humans, no matter how it is expressed; whether through traditional art, music, dance, writing, photography, or even less conventional forms like deck building and character creating which I know is relevant to a lot of my readers. All forms of creativity are a way of showing others a core aspect of yourself that others may not have previously appreciated or that you may have had difficulty articulating.
But creativity, along with almost all aspects of Fae, is a two-way street. You've already heard about how you're bearing your soul when you create, but how often have you taken time to truly observe other people's reactions? When someone looks at your art (in whatever form it takes) then how does it make them feel? Sometimes it might be completely contrary to your intention during the creation, and this might make you upset because you don't think you're being seen- but what if you are being seen in ways you yourself can't see?
Spirit Dancer dances because she wishes to be seen; she knows this is the purest form of self expression, and dancing makes her happy because she can express herself in a way that words cannot. Yet onlookers feel a great sadness when they see her dance, they are overcome with emotion through their empathy. Spirit Dancer is angered, "why are you sad? I'm doing this because I'm happy! It makes me feel good about myself!". She has failed to notice that the audience has picked up on the subconscious energy she is projecting; she doesn't know that she's provoking such a strong reaction precisely because she has a deep internal sadness that she isn't addressing.
Yes the ability to express yourself is a positive feeling, but sometimes your audience can see things in your work that you can't. It could be that your art is speaking to something deep within themselves that you unintentionally triggered, but it's also worth a moment to consider whether you have complex emotions deep in your subconscious that are coming through in your work. If you truly listen to your audience's reaction- not necessarily what they say but what they feel- then perhaps you'll learn something new about yourself.
