Verity has made a lot of progress in the last six months. She continues to catch respiratory illness easily and often and did need to be hospitalized for about a week in January, but she is slowly gaining strength through the illnesses. She is fully walking now, and is off the ventilator more often. She is still on the ventilator while sleeping, but the norm is to be off of it while awake, other than to be on it during the day when she is sick. She continues to have a joyful smile and a pleasant disposition. It is a joy to see her interacting with her siblings and learning from them. We really praise Jesus for how far she has come in the last year and a half since discharge from the hospital in Seattle. We recently celebrated her third birthday and we praise God for her life.

Psalms 86:12 (KJV) I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.

Tonight we gave glory to God for what He has done in Verity’s life and told the story of her second hospitalization.

Verity turned two years old this month. We rejoice in all the blessings of the past two years. It has been amazing to reflect back on all the Lord has done, and we continue to praise Him for all the miracles in Verity’s life. She is continuing to learn to crawl and is now pulling herself up on furniture. She is also learning some sign language and continues to have a wonderful smile. It has been a blessing to have her home now for about 6 months. She is really thriving at home.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Tomorrow we plan on telling her story at church as a part 2 to the story we told more than a year ago.

Verity has had some really good days in the last several weeks. She has experienced some respiratory illness, but we have been able to work through that at home, in consultation with her doctors, which has worked out well. We praise the Lord for the wisdom and experience we have gained while working through illness - We have had plenty of practice watching the medical staff in the hospital! Verity has been doing well enough to take breaks off the ventilator of up to eleven hours a day! She really enjoys getting outside and swinging in the swing! She is working on crawling, and her siblings are excited to help her learn. We are anticipating a wonderful celebration for her second birthday in about a month. God has done a lot in her life in two short years.

Verity has been up and down with respiratory illnesses since her discharge from Seattle Children’s in December. Praise the Lord, we have only needed to go to the hospital once in January. We are starting to establish some care with Portland doctors in addition to her teams in Seattle. We will continue to travel up to Seattle several times a year like we did this week, as the doctors there know her best and there are no pediatric heart transplant doctors in Portland.

We praise the Lord for how he has preserved Verity over this past year, helping her repeatedly after her second admission in Seattle a year ago today.

He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great things. - Due 10:21a

Verity has been struggling with pneumonia for several weeks now. These past several days she has worsening, so they switched up the anabiotic to a different one. We’re hopeful this helps her as she’s requires more respiratory support than normal. Thankfully, we have been able to manage the care at home instead of going into the hospital. She still remains fairly cheerful! Praying for a complete and quick recovery.

After 8 days in the hospital, Verity made it home again! She and her siblings are delighted to be together again. During those days she sufficiently recovered from pneumonia, started rolling onto her tummy, demonstrated that she can now move toys in and out of boxes, and allowed us opportunity to start working on establishing more care here in Portland. Please be praying for grace and wisdom as we work through all the learning curves that come with caring for her at home.

Last night Verity took her first ambulance ride in Portland to the hospital. She was not doing well with her breathing, and has been diagnosed with pneumonia. She is on antibiotics now and today has been better. She is still sick, and struggled at times today, but is better than yesterday. Praying for a speedy recovery and return home next week, though it is too soon to know when we will be discharged. It is nice to be in a hospital here in Portland, and not 200 miles from home.

The verses of scripture we have been focused on today are Psalm 86:3 and 12:
“(3) Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. (12) I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.”

New Year’s Day was another special day for Verity as we took her on her first family walk around the neighborhood. We are truly grateful to be able to celebrate these special days with our whole family together at our house!

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” -Psalm 118:24

Today is Verity’s first Christmas at home! It was a joyous occasion carrying Verity into our home last Wednesday after discharging from the hospital. It has now been almost a week at home with Verity and she has tremendously enjoyed all the loving attention from her siblings. It has been wonderful to do so many firsts with her this week: sitting in her high chair with the family at the table, seeing a Christmas tree, swinging in a baby swing, bouncing in a bouncer, and sleeping in her own crib. We are thankful for all who have prayed for Verity and been interested in her story over the last 18 months, thank you. Today we also rejoice in the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ 2000 years ago and are thankful for the free salvation He offers through faith in Him. Merry Christmas!

Today, after 543 days at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Verity was discharged! It appears she is still dealing with some of the effects of Norovirus, but doctors were confident enough with her improvement to send her home. We are excited to truly be bringing her home and look forward to integrating her into our family life over the coming weeks and months. Please be praying with us as we all adjust to the changes this brings to our home. We praise God for His help in bringing Verity to this day.

Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. -Micah 7:7

A friend has graciously set up a Meal Train for us. Please PM us if you are interested in participating in that.

Today is a big day of celebration for Verity!
One year ago Verity received her heart transplant. Praise the Lord for a whole year of her new heart working well. Verity’s one year heart cath and biopsy showed no rejection, which is a major blessing. Still working on discharge, potentially next week. This is Verity’s verse from the Bible, a reminder that she is a special girl from God.

Psalms 111:7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.
