A few of Francis Friends are proud to announce the formation of the Francis Schumacher Jr Foundation. Its sole mission will be to award scholarships in memory of our friend and teammate Francis Schumacher Jr (‘03) who lost his battle with Glioblastoma in October. We plan to award the 1st scholarship to a worthy Millikin FB player this spring. The foundation is an IRS approved 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible.

No amount of money will bring Francis back. Hell, he went to one of the best surgeons in the country to have the cancer removed TWICE. We were told average prognosis was 14 months up to FIVE years. It’s still so surreal that he’s gone.

We got his life altering and life taking Glioblastoma diagnosis in February. We were in the process of getting him life insurance and then he got COVID in January. Little did we know that you cannot get coverage for 90 days after a positive result. My biggest advice from this last 9 months is you’re never TOO young to have life insurance.

Your love, support, and generous donations are helping me take some of the stress and burden off my plate. I will forever be grateful.

Francis was moved to a different room today on a quieter wing. It has less stimulation and is a locked unit. His new room number is 154.

Hospice is coming tomorrow to evaluate our home and get it ready for him. If we can get everything in place the plan is to discharge on the 12th. He is very confused and gets anxious but was happy to see the kids.

I’m so thankful that Hollee is coming tomorrow and staying till Monday so Hannah can be with us next week. Thank you Andrea for making that happen.

I’m so appreciative of everyone in our circle. I also have the BEST work family and their willingness to help me and my family during the most difficult time of our lives.

We want to thank everyone who came and supported us at the SchuStrong Benefit for Francis!!!! There are not enough words to express how much we love and appreciate all of you. We raised just over TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!! It was so great to see everyone and have a great time. Francis was overjoyed at the amount of people who love him. Thank you thank you thank you for prayers, love, and support during the most difficult time of our lives.
