We are thrilled to welcome Audrey Kennis, Director of Human Services and Inclusion for the City of West Des Moines, as a guest speaker at the Tawasi Federated Women’s Club Spring Tea! 🌸
Audrey is an educator, practitioner, and social justice advocate whose life’s work centers on community, belonging, and equity. Originally from Denver, CO, she moved to Iowa to attend Clarke University in Dubuque, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Philosophy. She later completed a Master’s in Education with a certificate in Social Justice Education—and is currently pursuing a second Master’s in Community and Regional Planning at Iowa State University. 🎓
With over a decade of experience in multicultural programming, student retention, and recruitment at Iowa State University, Audrey's leadership has earned her numerous honors including the 2021 Outstanding Young Professional Award, the 2019 MLK Jr. Advancing One Community Award, and the University Award for Inclusive Excellence, among others.
Now, in her role with the City of West Des Moines, she’s committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community where all residents are seen, valued, and supported. 💬🌍
