Did you know that Herpes Zoster is treatable?
HERPES ZOSTER OR SHINGLES is a viral infection caused by reactivation of the Varicella Zoster Virus. Reactivation of the virus is because of low immunity.
Low immunity is caused by many diseases which include among others Diabetes mellitus, Steroid therapy, HIV, Cancers
Herpes Zoster presents as painful dermatomal(regional/localized on nerve distribution)vesicular rash on any part of the body
It mostly affects the face and the trunk(main body.
Signs and symptoms
1. Clustered rash
2. Rash is painful
3. Rash may be severe and massive
4. Rash may dissappear without treatment after 10-15 days
Treatment is by antiviral therapy
Go to the nearest hospital/health facility if you suspect you have the above named condition
