I can’t. I won’t. I shouldn’t. I don’t.
What do each of these sentences have in common?
They’re the results of limiting beliefs or, as author Mark Manson puts it, ‘False beliefs that prevent us from pursuing our goals and desires’.
A common limiting belief is: “I don't deserve to be happy or to be successful.”
Beliefs like these are often formed during childhood and work in the background of our lives, informing the choices we make. This includes what we feel we can and can’t do.
These ‘I can’t’s’ often start small. But the more we repeat these beliefs, the easier it is for them to leak out into other areas of our lives.
For example, we may want to apply for a senior role at work. We have all the skills and experience needed, but a nagging voice in our head says, “This isn’t you; you’re not leadership material”. Then when we don’t apply, we re-affirm these negative beliefs, shattering our confidence and creating unhappiness in other areas, too.
At Origami, we see these types of beliefs in people daily. We see the chaos they can cause, often starting small, before sn*******ng out of control. We also know that with the right tools and guidance, we can rewrite these beliefs and change what we believe about ourselves.
If you’ve experienced limiting beliefs that leave you feeling stuck, we’ve got good news!
On the 4th of September at 8 pm, we’re hosting a FREE live webinar all about rewriting limiting beliefs.
We’ll equip you with the knowledge and tools to challenge your beliefs and move forward with clarity and confidence.
