Our Story

Harm Reduction Research and Innovation Center was formed with a clear motive to impact public health by innovating in the area of harm reduction, cessation, and healthcare.

We want to empower people with the right tools and resources to enhance their knowledge on the impact of substance use, to support them to quit or switch to healthier alternatives and improve their quality of life. We are determined to look beyond the conventional ways of harm reduction. We adopt an evidence-based approach to support the policymakers, social planners and product developers to deliver innovative harm reduction techniques and further reduce individual drug-related harm. Our three pillars constitute- Research, Innovation, and Impact.

Currently, we strive to establish a global research consortium focusing on the eradication of smoking and minimizing the harm caused by HPHC (Harmful and Potentially Harmful Constituents) from Indian smokeless to***co products (SLTs) like gutka, khaini, mishri and pan masala. To begin with, our focus is to produce relevant HPHC data for Indian SLT in India across products and geography and communicate the harms caused by these constituents to the stakeholders of the Indian market. Through this empirical data and evidence , we aim to encourage new harm reduction tools and cessation techniques to reduce to***co usage in India.
