Lol.
This is hysterical.
My ChatGPT year in review.
Recurring theme? FIBER😅🤪🥰
It is true.
I think it is the most under appreciated nutrient.
In case you were wondering: 25 grams for women, 35 grams for men.
I have a fiber guide with more helpful info if you click the link in my bio

I had a great day at the Christmas Market at Bennington Community Market. I enjoyed meeting people from the community and connecting with the other amazing vendors.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the next Walk with a Doc on January 10th at 8:30 am!

We meet at the market and walk along the rail trail.

I love baking. Always have.

One of the ways I got extra fruits and veggies into my kids’ diets when they were younger was by adding them to foods they already loved. Blueberry muffins were a breakfast favorite—and honestly, still are.

This morning it was blueberry scones.
Still a favorite. Just a little more nourishing.

When I bake at home, I can:
• use whole wheat flour
• boost fiber
• rely less on added sugar
• and let the flavor of real food shine

That’s one of the reasons I love cooking and baking myself when I have the time. Store-bought baked goods are convenient—but they’re often made with refined flour, added sugars, and ingredients that don’t add much nourishment.

This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about small, thoughtful upgrades that support health and joy.

Blueberries bring fiber, antioxidants, and real clinical benefits for brain, gut, and metabolic health—wrapped up in something that feels comforting and familiar.

Food can be both nourishing and deeply enjoyable.
That’s joyful medicine.

Walk with a Doc

Healthy through the Holidays.

Often we take a break from our healthy habits during the holidays but that break can take toll.

Here are a few tips to stay on track and still enjoy the holidays.

Staying on track for the holidays has real implications for a long-term health.

We often feel like I’ll put it off until January. When we do that, not only do we tend to suffer during the holidays;, we are sluggish and feeling the effects of overindulging but after the holidays, especially after middle age it takes longer to bounce back.

This week I’m doing a series on YouTube with practical tips that you can start today that can honor your holiday celebrations, but also still support your health.

It is on YouTube. I invite you over to check it out. I would love to hear your feedback

📌 Why is your blood sugar suddenly harder to manage during the holidays—even if your food hasn’t changed? It’s not your fault. And it’s not about willpower.I...

Comment ‘fiber’ to download my free Fiber Guide if you’re ready to stop chasing macros and start nourishing your whole body.

We’ve been taught to obsess over protein, carbs, and fat like they’re the secret.
But macros are a distraction.

No one eats macros.
You eat food.

And when you focus on real food — beans, greens, grains, fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices — your body naturally gets what it needs without counting a single thing.

What the macro conversation misses is everything that truly matters:

✨ Flavor
✨ Fiber
✨ Color
✨ Joy
✨ Culture
✨ Satisfaction
✨ Your real life

When you center your plate around foods that taste good, feel good, and come from the earth, the nutrients take care of themselves.
You don’t need to chase grams — you need food that loves you back.

That’s why I talk so much about fiber. It’s not trendy. It’s powerful.
It improves blood sugar, gut health, hormones, and longevity — and it comes packaged in the most joyful, vibrant foods you can eat.

If you’re ready to shift from macro-counting to real nourishment:

👉 Download the free Fiber Guide and start adding more flavor, joy, and fiber to your day.

We talk about lifestyle change like it’s a test of character.
If you slip, it’s a “moral failing.”
If you can’t follow rigid rules forever, you “lack discipline.”

But those rules — the perfect meal plans, the strict lists, the “never do this” — were built for hospitals and acute illness.
Not for real life.

And in real life, those rules leave people feeling judged, ashamed, or like they’re always doing something wrong.
I hear it all the time during my evaluations:
“I know I shouldn’t…”
“This was a cheat…”
“I messed up…”

None of that guilt leads to healing.

WHAT:
That’s why I created The Joyful Medicine Method — a way of supporting your metabolic health that honors your culture, your stress level, your capacity, your season of life, and your joy.

WHY:
Because people don’t reach their goals by forcing themselves into rigid plans.
They heal when the approach fits the reality of their life — and when they feel safe, supported, and seen.

HOW:
The Joyful Medicine Method brings together evidence-based lifestyle medicine, the nervous system, food-as-medicine, home environment, culture, identity, and small joyful habits that actually stick.

It respects your biology and your humanity.

And because today is Cyber Monday —
and because December is my birthday month —
I’m opening every way to work with me at 50% off all month long.

If you’re ready for a way forward that feels sustainable, joyful, and real…
I’d love to support you.
