𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗱

‌Your stomach has hydrochloric acid in it to help you digest your food. Hypochlorhydria is a condition marked by low levels of stomach acid.

It can be caused by several factors like age, stress, medications, surgery, infections.

This could also be a cause for your bloating, but what is good is that there is something you can do about it. There’s also tests you can do to find out if you have low stomach acid.

If you’re suffering from gut issues like bloating and indigestion then get in touch. I can take you on a 3 month program to get to the root cause, heal your gut, make you enjoy food again.

Get in touch through the link in my bio and book and free discovery call today. Link in bio 👆🏼

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝗺 𝗜 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱?

Bloating can be normal occasionally. However it is not normal to feel bloated all the time. It’s complex issue and can stem from a variety of factors, so getting to the root cause is so important.

It’s one of the most common symptoms I see in clinic, and I’ve experienced this myself.

Does any of this resonate with you?

𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

In the wellness industry and on social media especially, there’s sometimes too much emphasis on what we need to be cutting out and not enough of what we can add to our diet and lifestyle.

In my clinic I like to focus on the positive changes we can make. What can we add to or incorporate more of?

I’ve just had a follow up appointment with one of my clients and was amazed by her progress. Just a few simple changes have greatly improved her health. Plus if you’re trying to improve your gut health, I guarantee these are going to help.

This could be:
💦 Drinking more water
🥬Adding a few more veggies to your plate
🍳Eating an energising breakfast
🍵Changing a caffeinated drink to a decaf or herbal tea
🚶‍♂️Going for a walk at lunchtime
🛌 Having an earlier bedtime

What can small changes can you implement into your daily routine?

Gut-Friendly Breakfast & Brunch Ideas 🥑🍳

Whether you’re a breakfast lover or prefer to wait for brunch, these meals are packed with gut healthy ingredients, from fibre rich greens to protein packed staples like eggs and yoghurt.

As someone who manages gut issues (IBS and mild SIBO), I wanted to share some of my go-to breakfasts. These are simple, wholefood-based, and balanced with protein to support hormones and blood sugar levels.

✨ CHIA PUDDING
I mix chia seeds with plain protein yoghurt, almond milk, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, cacao powder and/or nibs and top it with fruit, usually berries or banana. Sometimes, I’ll switch to soya yoghurt for an extra protein boost. Chia seeds are nutrient powerhouses: rich in omega-3s, fibre, and antioxidants to support digestion and overall health.

✨PORRIDGE
A warming breakfast I’ve been enjoying in this cold weather. Oats often get a bad rep, but it’s all about choosing the right type and pairing them well. I use jumbo oats (less processed) and add toppings like nuts, seeds, yoghurt, and berries for healthy fats, protein, fibre, and antioxidants.

✨ SMOOTHIES
I love alternating between green and berry smoothies:
Green Smoothie: Avocado, spinach, pear, banana, chia seeds, yoghurt, protein powder.
Berry Smoothie: Blueberries, banana, chia seeds, nush yoghurt, protein powder.
I often add tahini or nut butter for healthy fats and extra creaminess!

✨ EGG BASED MEALS
Eggs are a fantastic source of protein—perfect for those of us who can’t tolerate too many plant-based proteins. Two eggs deliver around 10–11g of protein! I like to pair eggs with sauerkraut so I have some fermented goodness or whip up an omelette packed with courgettes, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and feta.

✨ SMOKED SALMON BAGEL
My other favorite: smoked salmon, cream cheese (or ‘cream cheese’ and chive spread), with spinach or cavolo nero on a toasted sourdough bagel.

Remember: Everyone’s gut is different. Some people with IBS or SIBO may not tolerate certain foods like dairy, gluten, or chia seeds. Always listen to your body and find what works best for you.

I toil so much with the insecurity of social media. One day I want to share my life as a practitioner so I can relate to my clients and followers. Most days I just want to keep things private.

2024 was an eventful year. It’s been challenging, exciting and emotional. There have been plenty of highs but also some real lows. At times, it’s impacted my work; I simply haven’t had the mental capacity to promote my business as I’d like. Yet, in many ways, it’s made me a better practitioner.

I’ve gained a deeper understanding of what many of my clients are going through. I’ve done the research, run the tests, but this year, I’ve felt the pain myself. I understand how hard it can be to enjoy food when you’re uncertain about how it will make you feel.

So many clients come to me with digestive issues rooted in a dysregulated nervous system, stress being a major trigger. I always ask: When did these symptoms start? Often, the answer lies during a tough time, ie: a stressful period at work, the edge of burnout, a breakup, or relationship struggles. We live in a world where many of us are constantly running on adrenaline, stuck in a state of fight or flight.

I’ve shared insights on SIBO and IBS, and while nutrition plays a big role, food alone isn’t the full answer. Lifestyle changes can have an incredible impact. Slowing down, reconnecting with your body, and addressing stress are just as important as what’s on your plate.

I’d love to know if any of this resonates with you

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by all the conflicting diet advice out there? 🤔🤯🫤

〰️It’s very easy to stumble upon a post, article, podcast or hear someone say, “This is bad for you, “I’m fasting” or “we should be doing this and that…” But we need to be mindful of how we talk about food and health, especially in front of others. Everyone is on their own health journey.

〰️Even as a health practitioner I have to be cautious about what I take in, and that’s why I have an interesting relationship with social media. 🫠

〰️The truth is, what works for one person might not work for another. One diet does not fit all.

〰️As a Naturopathic Nutritional therapist, I take a holistic approach to health. This means using food and lifestyle changes to support the body’s natural healing processes. Instead of just addressing symptoms, I focus on the root causes of health concerns.

〰️My goal is to understand how your diet, lifestyle, and environment affect you, so we can work together to create a personalised plan to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

A few little snaps from Christmas 📸🎄

A huge thank you to my family for all the hosting, cooking, and delicious food over the holidays. With eleven of us now, we each contribute towards the Christmas dinner. This year, I made a mushroom and squash Wellington for all the veggies in the family () Great for leftovers too 😋

One of our long standing family traditions is a raclette dinner party, something we’ve been doing every winter for over 10 years now. My sister always hosts, and I love how simple and comforting it is: raclette cheese, potatoes, salad, pickles/Cornichons, and cured meats for the meat-eaters.
If you’ve ever tried truffle or smoked raclette, you’ll know how amazing it is. Pure indulgence. iykyk

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and thinking of those who it’s particularly difficult for. It’s a weird time of year for people.
