Society often shows us what a ”real man” should be or the “perfect guy”. We’re told he’s not the one if he doesn’t meet the following standard or requirements that are often shown.

I’m shocked by the lack of lists for women there are. Why is it ok to put so many high standards on men, but how dare anything be expected of us women because we’re already perfect right?

The standards for men are damaging to marriages because it sets unrealistic expectations for wives. The reality is that every husband is going to fall short some time or another because every husband is a sinner just like us wives are. They’re gonna struggle with selfishness, pride, lust, and more. We have to learn to pray for our husbands and encourage them towards Christ when they stumble. This puts the focus on our marriage rather than jumping to the thought of, “I don’t deserve this” which holds the focus on ourselves and what we’re receiving.

It’s so important to remember that we as wives also fall short. We can’t expect our husbands to be everything we need them to be when we’re not in the will of God with our roles as wives first.
