Come and give Singing Mamas a try for the last session of the term. Whether you’ve never sung before or are a seasoned pro or someone who can't sing, you’ll be made very welcome. There’s no ‘spotlight’, no audition, just an opportunity to forget the stresses of life, to sing for yourself, for each other and just ‘be’. Mums, Grandmas, homeschoolers, women without kids - all are welcome!

What to expect: We learn simple and soul filling songs. We don't use sheet music but instead learn the songs by ear. You won't be made to sing if you don't feel comfortable and all singing we do is in a group. Coffee, tea and a yummy snack provided.

I started mother's singing groups when my own babies were quite young. I desperately felt the need for community. Although we enjoyed going to Giggle and Wiggle and Paint and Play sessions, I wanted something deeper. Something where I could connect with other mums instead of just waving at each other as we crossed paths at the park. Something where I felt nourished after the session instead of drained. Singing Mamas is the group I was looking for. Come along, be recharged, be nourished. Connect with other women. We start on the 22nd of February. Message me for more details.

What a day! The AMTA has had a win. Bill Shorten has agreed to speak to the AMTA next week. This is thanks to the huge advocacy efforts by hundreds of RMTs and participants over the last few days. The fight is not finished but today was a win. Also love watching this video just to see my two beautiful kids wriggle and fidget and rock, and Mr 5's reaction to dropping his fidget part way through :D

An update: Thank you for all of your support yesterday. Thanks to AMTA's advocacy efforts we have been given a small window before changes come into effect on the 1st of February. Today (Wednesday), AMTA President Monica Zidar will lead a small delegation to Parliament House. We have urged Minister Shorten to meet them so we can ask in person that the NDIA reverse its decision to remove music therapy from therapeutic supports.

How you can help:
If you can, get to Australian Parliament House by 12pm, Wednesday 27 November. Meet Monica in the Marble Foyer to attend a press conference. Sarah will be there, please message her if you are able to come.

Do you have a family member who has benefited from music therapy? The NDIS are planning to remove music therapy from the NDIS in less than a week, leaving countless participants without support and hundreds of music therapists without income. Save Music Therapy: Keep It Funded Under NDIS

A note before reading to my current clients. I know this is stressful news. Please look after yourself. I will be calling each of you tomorrow to make a plan for your child.

I need your help! As many of you know, I work as a Registered Music Therapist. This is a Masters level, evidence based allied health profession with the same level of qualification as occupational and speech therapists. I support children in reaching their communication, social, motor, emotional and cognitive goals through music. All of these children access music therapy through the NDIS. This is where I need your help. The NDIS have decided that they will no longer fund music therapy under the Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living category. There was no consultation with the AMTA (the music therapy body in Australia). I have been told that from the 2nd of December, a week away, my clients will no longer be able to access music therapy. This is a huge loss for these children, for many of whom music therapy is the only therapy they currently engage in. It is also a loss of my entire business and income. Neither the NDIA nor the Department of Social Services has provided a reason for the decision. There are 950 music therapists in Australia who will be affected by this decision yet none of them were consulted. We need your help!

I, along with the AMTA ask that the NDIA pause, provide the reason and protect participant choice.
