Ahoy pals... Just a quick explanation about "IDWD" and why it's risen from the bread. Many of you might recall that I had this page and a website going for quite a while and at some point, I had more than enough of social media and destroyed everything I ever created. Much in the same way, I've taken to a lot of different methods for getting healthier and in better shape over the last ten years and some things clicked, while others seemed to be a waste of time. I've read so many books; such as Rob Wolf's "The Palio Solution" and Mark Sissons "The Primal Blueprint" and Dr. Hyman's "The 10 Day Detox Diet"... I've also watched hours of footage from multiple gurus... including Sadhguru ... who all had a great take on eating from complete veganism to full-on carnivore lifestyle. I've watched so many documentaries on how everything is great for you and all those same things are also horrible for you. It's hard to know what to believe, at least it was and still to some degree is still, for me. A few years back a friend of mine turned me on to Keto lifestyle and I loved it... and it worked like magic... for a while at least. Eventually, even Keto had me scratching my head as to why I wasn't as thin as Michael Jackson (he's pretty thin these days). My wife asked me if I ever heard of Dr. Jason Fung and his teachings, of which I had not, so I delved into his youtube channel. His rhetoric def spoke to me and caused me to buy (yet another book, but the best of the batch)... "The Obesity Code". It was like reading my own life story at times and the best part was, he offered an explanation and solutions. According to Fung, calories and food intake have less to do with weight than does insulin, more specifically, the resistance to insulin, and the concept of homeostasis. The body wants to stay where you've had it for a length of time... so if you're 300lbs for a while well.. that's where it wants to be and it'll do what it can to keep you there. The general concept is to break that chain by fasting and allowing your body to get into modes (explained in the book and a myriad of youtube videos) such as ketosis and Autophagy. It's really a brilliant concept and seems to be the most accurate I've ever come across. I'm mainly eating only meat and sometimes dairy and fasting for either several hours a day or for days at a time. I appreciate that some folks might think that's a horrible way to help oneself, but... I gotta be me. Plus I've tried a ton and this is what has been the easiest and best feeling for me. So I started originally at 345 and through Keto, got down to 290, but then a climb started up. at 315, I said no effing way this is happening again, I'd rather destroy myself and so, I'm taking what some might consider extreme measures, into my own hands. Hang out for a while... see what happens to me. I'm curious too, as to where I'll be in a year. The long fasts actually boost the metabolism, so the goal is to boost that while staying well fed. I'll eat when I can catch prey and I won't when I can't. I'm stoked and feel alive. I'll keep you posted.
