📚💔 Important News from Mary Who? 💔📚
After more than four decades trading in the Townsville CBD — including the past two decades in our beloved current building — it is with an extremely heavy heart that we share some big news with our Mary Who? family.
Due to being unable to negotiate suitable lease terms, we have been given last-minute notice to vacate our building. This came as a shock to us, and it’s not at all what we had hoped for.
✨ In the midst of this very scary and uncertain time, there is a small light — we’ve found a temporary home so we can keep sharing books with you. You’ll find us at:
Shop 05, Fairfield Homemaker Centre, 17 Darcy Drive, Idalia, QLD (next to World Gym).
Please note: we will be closed in our current location from 5pm today, Wednesday 01st October, and we expect to reopen in our new location at 9am on Saturday 11th October.
Our website will remain fully operational, but please be aware that we may not be able to process orders as quickly as usual while we’re moving. Once we’re set up, we’ll get everything back on track as fast as we can, including our free local delivery service.
While this temporary space won’t have quite the same charm and character you’ve come to know and love, what will never change is our passion for stories, our belief in the power of books to connect people, and the genuine warmth of the Mary Who? family. That is the heart of who we are, and it will always be with us — no matter the walls around us.
We’d be so grateful for the community’s support in continuing to visit us during this difficult transition. 💛
Unfortunately, all events scheduled over the coming months have had to be cancelled. We truly hope to get them back up and running once we secure a long-term home.
Thank you for walking alongside us through this change. Mary Who? has always been about more than just a building — it’s about people, stories, and community. And that will never change.
