🍂 Our First Seasonal Wellbeing Saturday is Nearly Here

The season is shifting—the air cooler, the light softer, and the land calling us to slow down.

On the 27th of September, we gather at Brown Rock for our first Seasonal Wellbeing Saturday. It’s a gentle space to pause, restore, and reconnect—with nature, with each other, and with the rhythm of autumn.

We love holding these Wild Day sessions — and we’ve been doing so for several years now!

It’s sometimes hard to put into words what these sessions bring to those who come. But we revisited responses from a questionnaire we asked participants to complete to help us show to funders what these sessions mean.

This one stood out — among many others.

🌿 Wild Days – Last Friday of Every Month 🌿

Feeling anxious, low, or just in need of a reset?

Wild Days is a gentle monthly session held outdoors—a space to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself and the natural world. There’s no pressure to talk, no expectations. Just time in nature, in a supportive group, at your own pace.

One participant shared:

“The benefits of each Wild Day I've attended are far-reaching. Being outside in a supportive environment with no pressure to be anyone but myself helped me relax and enjoy the moment. Over time, I’ve started taking mindful walks, noticing nature more, and using grounding exercises to manage anxiety. It’s been life-changing.”

We are thrilled to see green social prescribing receiving the attention it deserves! Research shows it is a powerful way to support mental health, and this is just the beginning. We need continued commitment from policymakers to ensure its long-term success.

At Brown Rock, we have been part of the "Healthier with Nature" pilot project in Bristol, North Somerset & South Glos. The funding has supported our NatureWell course and Wild Days, making a positive difference for many. 🌳💚

Scheme helping people in England connect with nature led to better mental health, report finds

🌿 Our 3-session NatureWell course begins on September 11th and runs fortnightly, offering you the perfect opportunity to slow down and immerse yourself in a safe, nurturing environment. This course is designed to help you connect with yourself, others, and the natural world, fostering a deeper sense of well-being. 🌳

The more we connect with nature, the better we feel and the more resilient we become.

Here’s what a previous participant had to say about their experience:

"NatureWell is a series of sessions that allows you to step back from the world, pause, breathe, smell, and feel in nature. With the guidance of experienced facilitators, you're encouraged to share as much or as little as you wish with others. It’s a chance to be mindful, find peace, and engage in a sense of solidarity with both peers and nature."

Come and join us for a lovely evening making a flower press! Friday 16th August, 6:30 - 9pm🌻

Treat yourself to a few hours in the beautiful surroundings of Brown Rock, and make something to take home with you, that you can use again and again. During the workshop, you'll put together the press itself, and then fill it with flowers and foliage, from our market garden and woodland ☘️

All abilities welcome, so whether you're a regular artist, or haven't done anything creative for ages, this workshop is for you! Tickets are £40, which includes materials, a drink, and some nibbles. These workshops support the work we do here at Brown Rock 🌳

Our incredible crew has been busy flexing their sign-making muscles 💪 to get everything ready for our first Welcome Day on Saturday, June 22nd! 🎉10am-12:30pm

Welcome Days at Brown Rock are all about gathering together, whether you're a new face or a familiar one to our welcoming community.

You'll also have the chance to buy fresh produce and flowers from our market garden. Come along to find out what's in season, and while you're at it, meet the donkeys 🥕🌸🐴
