This week I’ve choose Candle Breath to share as a few days ago I NEEDED the practice.

I was having some neurological assessments (EMG and Nerve Conduction tests) to get to the bottom of the involuntary movements I get (the ones that started at a Vipassana meditation center which I speak to in my article on ‘Meditation Gone Wrong’). One needle they poked in me hurt, panic arose, and my symptoms kicked off with my right arm vibrating, twitching and moving wildly out of my control for minutes, alongside plenty of tears and overwhelm. Without Candle Breath, I think it would have persisted for longer. With Candle Breath, exhaling slowly through pursed lips, I managed to soothe myself enough to let it pass, settle and allow them to stick the needle in again. Scary is an understatement, yet I appreciated this tool hence I’m sharing it with you.

Candle Breathing is like a first aid tool for panic, and done differently in a different setting it’s also a beautifully relaxing and introspective tool. It’s a soothing balm. I’ve made videos for both occasions, so dive in while they are available this week.

Other great ways for building inner strength, confidence, resilience and joy is open water swimming! I’ve been putting it off for months… yet today, I did it, first sea swim of the year and it was incredible - I had and still have such a huge smile!!!

Happy Easter folks xx

What’s it like to be alive? What’s it like to be a living, breathing being? What’s it like to breathe in this body? Your breath is a portal into self discovery, especially when you ask ‘How do I experience this breath?’.

Through ‘Breath of the Week’ you’ll meet the many breathing techniques in Breath Cards, one week at a time. Give them a go and see what you discover! Enjoy the free practice video for the week, and to access all the videos (or keep practicing with your favourite), join the membership!

Anapanasati, also known as Breath Awareness is one of the most important important practice. It’s often under estimated, but one can apparently become fully Enlightened with the practice!

Look, in many ways it’s simple - just observe your natural breath. That’s it. But doing that is very challenging. We get distracted. We subtly change the breath to make it ‘better’ or ‘nicer’ in ways that we often aren’t even aware of. You are practicing letting go of all that.

Anapanasati is rooted in Buddhist practice, and it’s is fundamental in the modern so-called secular interpretation ‘Mindfulness’. If you read last week’s article ‘Meditation Gone Wrong’, then you’ll appreciate that it is possible to experience significant difficulties. This also points to the potency of Anapana!

Normal challenges include: mind wandering, boredom and feeling restless. Practicing will strengthen your concentration and help these distractions be less distracting. If you experience distress that you don’t feel equipped for, adapt the practice or stop. Opening the eyes can help in such scenarios. The practice is here to help you, so only do it if it helps. You are welcome to speak with me personally for guidance.

Go to my bio and click on “breath cards library” and you’ll see anapana for you there, enjoy!

If you were following me last summer, you may have know I was experienced significant problems with Vipassana meditation, a form on mindfulness meditation. It’s taken me a long time to process it and decide what to say, what to share. Today I’ve published a long blog post about it - my lived experience of adverse reactions to mindfulness meditation, including videos, and lots of resources to help anyone else that’s in need.

I’m happy to hear from you with thoughts and questions, so feel free to get in touch or drop a public comment below. Awareness is key!

The Breath Book Club is gathering for lovers of Breath. Yoga teachers, therapists, Breathwork teachers, and the wellbeing lover, you are all welcome.

My friend and I created this book club earlier in the year. We gathered earlier in March to discuss the first book, Breath by James Nestor.

This time, we are reading about trauma sensitive practices in Mindfulness, and then our goal is to apply it to what we know in breathwork.

So book 02 is Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness by David Treleaven. Join us!

What can we learn from Mindfulness to support trauma sensitive approach to breathwork?

Whether you practice or teach, love slow breathing, or fast, there’s lots in here for you. Great stories to illustrate the points, and clear guidance on supportive practice.

When you’re reading this, consiously think about the applicability to the different types of breathwork you know. Think about how you could use the guidance to better support yourself. If you teach, think about what adaptions you’d make. And of course, if you notice any gaps, bring your thoughts along - we’d love you to share them.

It’s online and free. Just by the book, read it and join us on the 4th to discuss. Book your free ticket now so you get the reminders and invite in your diary.

We’ve been dreaming this up for a few months now, and the time has come… announcing The Breath Book Club, first gathering ✨19 MARCH 2025✨

Are you into yoga, wellbeing and your self-care?

And are you curious about breathwork and pranayama?

Interested in learning and exploring the power of the breath within a community book club?

Join Isabel and Lisa in their brand new offering The Breath Book Club where we will dive deep together into the field of breathwork. We met 6 years ago teaching and studying yoga at a studio in West London and then went on to complete a yearlong breathwork certification programme together. Breathwork has helped us both enormously. After suffering birth trauma and severe post natal depression in 2021, Lisa’s breathwork practice became a consistent and safe space in supporting her recovery. For Isabel, decades of athletic Yoga and thousands of hours of Vipassana meditation had not been the cure all she’d hoped for - breathwork and Isabel’s creation of Breath Cards was a way to alleviate anxiety.

Our free online book club is a supportive space for deeper learning and collaborations for all things connected to The Breath.

Deep learning: By learning together we will create mutual accountability to actually read those precious books we’ve bought. We clarify and deepen our understanding through discussion, questioning and sharing our unique insights.

Collaborations: We hope to build a virtual likeminded community that will facilitate connections and collaborations in the real world - events together, retreat together? Yes, let’s!

You don’t need to be a breath expert to join. Yoga teachers, coaches, therapists, wellness explorers and breath geeks, you are all welcome - read the book and come as you are!

And now you know what school I went to! I loved school, loved the variety, the structure, sports, art, exams to pass and friends to muck around with.

Welcome to the Dreamstate Breathwork Journey!

This is my latest creation, a deeply relaxing and potent experience. I made an audio for myself earlier this week and experienced it myself, and I cried, smiled and felt profoundly moved - a vision of horse giving me access to its beating heart, showing me connection, love and trust. I don’t consciously know what it means, but I know it means a lot. Where will you journey? Each one is unique. Special. Precious.

Come on this transformative, mystical, dreamline inner world advanture to tap into your subconscious mind and unlock your inner wisdom. The power of slow breathing and visualisation will take us there.

No prior experience is necessary, just come with an open mind and a willingness to explore the depths of your inner world.

Make yourself a gorgeous comfy nest, light a candle and settle in!

Can’t wait to see you there!

Book on Eventbrite so you get the invite and email reminders. (Link in bio of course)

This is a donation based class so pay what you can.
