Vintage Tupperware (pre 2011) can test positive for unsafe levels of LEAD, MERCURY, CADMIUM & ARSENIC - all used as colorants for the plastic - as well as BPA. It is not safe to use for foods (especially hot or acidic foods - including foods or beverages with lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice, vinegar, tomato sauce, hot tea/ iced tea, iced coffee / hot coffee, etc.). Below are 9 articles with test results of 9 different pieces of vintage Tupperware, as well as safer alternatives for these products (currently available on Amazon).

We decided to share this information again this weekend because the vintage Tupperware often comes out when the family comes together to visit on holiday weekends (like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day). Please share this information with your friends and family to help protect them (and especially the kids and grandkids) from being exposed to the heavy metals listed. There is no safe level of Lead exposure and many of these products were made before current regulatory standards were in place.

All of the linked products below have been tested using XRF technology and found to be negative (non-detect) for Lead, Mercury, Arsenic and Cadmium. XRF technology tests down to a low threshold of detection of single digit parts per million (ppm).
