THE BENEFITS OF TRAINING BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER WORK.
Changing our lifestyle from sedentary to active, dedicating time to the practice of physical exercise and sports, not only changes our body, but also improves our health. We know this and we want to change and start to be more active, but we have some work schedules to meet and sometimes it is difficult to decide whether to do sports before, after, or even during work hours.
This decision will depend in part on our time availability, our type of work and how we feel about the idea of getting up early. But it can also depend on what the physical exercise contributes to us at each moment. Therefore, to facilitate the choice based on your needs, we share with you the benefits of training before, during or after work.
Training before going to work means, in most cases, getting up earlier than usual. For some people this can directly lead to a negative point to this practice, but the reality is that the advantages can convince us to overcome this first rejection and we throw ourselves into sports early.
One option that some people use – especially if they have a gym nearby and plenty of time to eat – is to go out and train at meal times. That way they take advantage of that little bit of the day to catch up with their exercise routine. This type of training can be a smart way to take advantage of time for those who start early and leave late, but have free time between morning and afternoon.
One of the main benefits of training at this time is that it would help us to accelerate our metabolism. If, in addition, we delay the meal until after the training instead of doing it before, we can use it as a reward for our effort. In this way we will also reinforce the motivation.
If we decide to train after work, we must ensure that we have enough time between the end of the training and the time to go to sleep. If this is not the case, it is possible that we will get too active in bed and this will affect the quality of our sleep. It is possible that training at this time costs us more because we have less energy, but it also has some benefits. Practicing exercise at the end of the day can make it easier for us to get home more relaxed, as well as being more relaxed after the work day. Also, as long as we make sure we do not get too activated at bedtime, doing sports after work will help us to rest better.
