This tree caught my attention this week. It’s spring, and yet it’s the only one on a long street that hasn’t shed its old leaves. While some species wait for new buds to push the old growth out, all the others of its kind have already cleared their branches except this one. We’ve had a cold winter, and it is still holding on.

It was a reminder to share how our minds are an accumulation of thoughts, and how often we don’t let go of the ones that hold us back or no longer serve us.

Just like trees, we go through cycles. It’s essential to take the time to shed our mental “leaves.” When we meditate, thoughts may initially try to take over, but the practice is really about letting them fall away. By doing so, we can finally feel the warmth of the present moment.

We don’t have to wait for things to “get better” before we let go of the old. You can choose to do this at any time. When we become truly mindful, we realize we can’t keep holding onto things past their “expiry date.”

As we go into the weekend, I invite you to let it go. Whether it’s a hurtful comment, a past experience, or something else that’s replaying in your mind, don’t let it steal your present moment. Drop the weight of what was, so you can be free in what is.

Happy Friday!

Today is Ram Navami, a day celebrated by followers of Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) across the world to honor the birth of Lord Rama.

While the calendar is filled throughout the year with vibrant festivals or holidays often marked by feasts and gift-giving, the true significance of these “holy days” lies much deeper. They serve as sacred reminders to cleanse ourselves both externally and internally and to turn inward to connect with our true selves.

Growing up, I saw the Ramayana (Rama’s journey) simply as a story of good versus evil, but it is so much more; it is each of our stories. The characters are not just historical figures, but metaphors for our lives. Rama is the original hero on a journey to connect to his true self.

Though we often spend our lives searching for a “happily ever after,” his life was defined by relentless trials. Yet, he remained a steadfast example of showing up, doing his duty, living righteously, and letting the path unfold without ever deviating from his values.

His path teaches us that life is not about avoiding suffering, but moving through it. When we face hardships or “drama” in our own lives, let’s remember Rama and take strength in the fact that life is a journey through suffering, not away from it. Our struggles are what transform us and awaken us to our higher self.

In the midst of the journey, when things feel stuck, let’s stay grounded and anchor ourselves with gratitude, reminding us of all that we already have.

Hello Friends!

I’m grateful to share that I’ll be this Saturday, March 14th, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM for a book signing event.

I’ll be there with all three of my books: The Petals of Unity, Maya’s Connecting Flight, and Heartfelt.

If you are looking for a gentle reminder to slow down, Maya’s Connecting Flight is an invitation to look inward and reconnect with your truest self. In such a busy world, we all need those moments to return to the peace and clarity that already exists within us.

I’m also looking forward to sharing the message behind The Petals of Unity. It’s a reminder I feel is so important right now: that unity is possible, all paths are valid, and we can all awaken to the truth of who we are.

Whether you want to discuss my books, mindfulness, my journey from a corporate career into writing and teaching, or just say hello while you’re at the mall, please stop by!

Thank you for your support. 🙏 I hope to see you there!

Love, Romila

What an energy-filled afternoon at !

My book signing this past weekend was full of such great conversations.

It’s such a beautiful moment when someone can relate to what you’re saying. Truly, it’s because at our core, we aren’t as different as we think. Helping others navigate the path back to their truest selves is why I do this, and I am so grateful to the community, family, and friends who stopped by to support me. 🙏

I’ll be the first to admit: I haven’t always had a clear vision for where this path would lead. When I left the corporate world after 22 years, the “why” was still unfolding. I had to learn that the most meaningful growth doesn’t happen overnight; it takes time to bloom into our true selves. But through writing and developing my Inner View Wellness classes, the pieces began to click into place.

My books are less about the pages themselves and more of a collective invitation to look inward. Whether it’s through the stories I tell or the lessons I share, they are reminders of what we’ve simply forgotten: our true selves. Now, more than ever, there is a quiet call to awaken to our authentic selves, to remember the peace and clarity that is already within us, waiting to be rediscovered.

There was a quiet, powerful pride in seeing that “Canada” sticker on my books as they sat on the Local Author table. It made the transition feel tangible and real. It was a reminder that in the journey of transformation, the trust and patience I learned during my pivot are just as essential as the work itself.

I’ll be home in Markham this weekend! 🏡 Join me this Saturday, March 14th, at Indigo Markville from 12–4 PM.

We hear the term “authentic self” all the time, but what does it actually mean? It’s more than a buzzword; it’s the essence of who you are beyond the body and mind. Underneath the stories you’ve been told since childhood, societal expectations, and years of conditioning lies your True Self: the soul, the divine.

A friend of mine recently mentioned she had ordered a book on how to connect to the divine. Her husband, trying to be funny, said, “I’ll buy you a wire instead.” She was offended, but I told her he wasn’t far off.

The wire is a perfect metaphor for that connection. We are all born with a built-in line to our true nature, but over time, that wire gets rusty. It gets coated in the dirt of daily life: anxieties, past traumas, and the constant noise of the world. When the signal weakens, we feel disconnected or lost.

Connecting to your True Self isn’t about searching for something that’s missing; it’s about returning to the source of who you’ve always been. We clean the connection through intentional practices like silence, breathwork, and meditation. It includes letting go of the limiting beliefs and negative thoughts we’ve gathered over the years and choosing activities and thoughts that bring genuine peace.

Every time you choose awareness over reaction, or stillness over chaos, you are polishing the wire. You are returning to the one who was there all along: your authentic self.

I had a mindful moment with a goose today. It first took its time blocking my parking spot. There was nothing else I could do; I simply waited and observed it until it cleared the spot.

Once I was inside and waiting, my fingers naturally reached for my phone to check emails. But then I noticed that same goose walking deliberately past my window, completely present. I realized I had a choice: the screen or the scenery.

I chose the scenery. Shortly after, an older gentleman dropped a sesame bagel in front of the goose and walked off. While we know they don’t need human food, watching the bird’s reaction was fascinating. It was incredibly selective; carefully picking off the sesame seeds and taking only a few small bites before waddling over to drink from a puddle of water.

It knew exactly what it needed and when to stop. It showed a level of restraint that can be hard to find in our world of constant consumption. A seagull later swooped in to inhale the rest, but the goose was satisfied to just stand by the puddle and observe its surroundings.

I’d been talking to my youngest in the car earlier about how easy it is to get sucked into our devices. In a world that demands our attention 24/7, taking a break from the digital noise shouldn’t be an afterthought; it’s a necessity. It’s a chance to simply be.

So, if you’re reading this on your phone right now, here’s your sign to look up for a second. Relish the stillness, even if it’s just for a few minutes, and stay in the now.

Happy Friday!

I have been reflecting on the last decade. Ten years ago was a turning point. The universe had been prompting me to pay attention for a while, but I was on autopilot. Then came 2016; a year of relentless lessons designed to wake me up.

The year started with the passing of my mother-in-law. Nothing truly prepares you for the moment a soul leaves its body. As the year progressed, the unraveling continued. At the time, I was juggling so many responsibilities that the illusion of control finally shattered. It felt less like dropping the balls and more like the weight of them was caving in on me.

For a long time, I viewed it as my worst year. Today, I can tell you it contained some of my most meaningful moments of learning. One of those moments was hearing Wayne Dyer say, “Don’t die with your music still in you.” He drew upon Leo Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilyich, where the protagonist wonders on his deathbed if his entire life had been wrong. The message was clear: Do not wait to live your purpose.

It was one of many moments that slowly moved me away from a career in corporate. That year gave me the permission to seek my true north. It set the wheels in motion for me to dive deeper into spirituality, commit to self-work, and finally have time to venture into writing and teaching.

If you have been longing to try something new, do it. You will never know the outcome unless you start. Was my journey smooth sailing from there? Absolutely not. A life well-lived is about having no regrets. It is not about avoiding struggle or adhering to societal conditioning.

We each enter this world with a unique blueprint and our own specific sheet music. We only begin to struggle when we compare ourselves to others or try to play from someone else’s score. Your music is yours alone. Follow your inner conductor and play it loudly.

True change does not happen in a flash. It is a slow build that begins the moment you choose to be mindful. Don’t wait for a perfect time that does not exist. Pick up your instrument and start playing today.

There is a lot of noise out there right now, and most of it is designed to keep us looking anywhere but inward. Between the Epstein files and the recent stories about Deepak Chopra, there’s so much static to sift through.

I’ve noticed women posting that there was just something about him. It’s that voice in your gut that knows when something isn’t quite right, even if everyone else is clapping.

For so long, we’ve lived in a predominantly patriarchal world that ignores the female energy, which is the part of us that feels, senses, and just knows. This moment is a call to finally embrace that feminine side. It’s also an important push to find the teacher within: your inner guide, your inner compass.

What does that actually mean? It means listening to your true self instead of depending on someone on the outside to have all the answers.

This only happens when we sit in the silence, and let’s be real: we are terrified of silence. We look for any distraction, whether it’s scrolling, news, or noise, just so we don’t have to be alone with our thoughts. We’re like children constantly tugging on a sleeve saying, “Play with me!” because we don’t know how to just be.

But aloneness isn’t the same thing as loneliness. When we finally stop, breathe, and quiet the mind, that’s when the truth actually has room to speak.

At the end of the day, the headlines and the scandals are just distractions. They keep us looking outward, judging others, and feeling small. Don’t let them take your peace. The truth of who you are is already there, waiting for you to get quiet enough to hear it.

A dear friend of mine is a Reiki master, but long before she found her practice, I saw her as a “fairy.” She flutters through life with radiant energy, experiencing the world through the metaphysical lens of moon cycles, crystals, and candles, remaining unapologetically herself. While we don’t always agree on everything, we often talk about the courage it takes to be authentic.

Recently, another friend mentioned she wears the “black sheep” badge because she constantly defies her family’s expectations. She is breaking free from conditioning, healing trauma, and doing things her own way.

This theme of uncompromising self-expression came up again this weekend while watching Bad Bunny during the Super Bowl halftime show. I realized he couldn’t be anything other than exactly who he is. In a world where we often conform to fit in, he performs needing zero validation. His music is vibrant, joyful, and ready to connect with anyone who has an open heart.

It made me think about how often we dilute ourselves. I’ve done it here. I’ve shied away from posting spiritual material because I feared it wouldn’t “fit” the corporate image of a mindfulness coach. And I’ve downplayed my own books out of a quiet fear that they might not resonate with everyone.

But here is the truth: not everything will resonate with everyone, and authenticity is not an act of rebellion. My friend is not a “black sheep” for wanting to do things differently, and it doesn’t make me “out-there” to share truths about life, spirituality, and what connects us. Being our authentic selves isn’t about trying to be different; it’s about trusting our inner GPS.

I am moving toward celebrating my truth. Reflecting on the past, I see how every time I diluted my message to “fit,” I only succeeded in dimming my own light. The world doesn’t need more filtered versions of us; it needs the highest, truest version of who we are.

As you move through your week, I invite you to do the same. Stop the dilution. Stop the dimming. The world needs more light, and that starts with you being unapologetically you!
