GAD is a common anxiety disorder that involves constant and chronic worrying, nervousness, and tension. Unlike a phobia, where your fear is connected to a specific thing or situation, the anxiety of GAD is diffused—a general feeling of dread or unease that colors your whole life. It is characterized by six months or more of chronic, exaggerated worry and tension that is unfounded or much more severe than the normal anxiety most people experience. People with this disorder usually expect the worst.
It can be treated through medication and psychotherapy.

How Our Society Deals with Mental Illnesses? The answer to this question is sadly embarrassing. Our society treats mental and physical illnesses differently. Unfortunately, mental illnesses are dealt as SOCIAL STIGMA in our society. Well most of the times people don’t even recognize that somebody is suffering from some sort mental illness.
It is sad to say that it is a taboo to even mention mental illness in our society. Now in this case patients feel alone with no one there to help you or to pour your heart out to someone because they think people might call them crazy. Out of the fear of being branded CRAZY people suffering from mental illnesses stay silent.
Recognizing mental illnesses are very important for people to get the treatment they need. As a society we need to change the societal perceptions to de-stigmatise mental illnesses.
