How many hours do you average per night??

Getting enough sleep is one of the best gifts you can give yourself because it directly affects your mental AND physical health! It impacts your productivity, emotional balance, brain and heart health, immune function, creativity, vitality, and even your weight. No other activity delivers so many benefits with so little effort!

Truth...most adults need 7-9 hours of quality sleep to function at their best and children and teens need even more. Itโ€™s not to say we canโ€™t function on less because Iโ€™m betting that a lot of us donโ€™t achieve that per night. As adults our babies, toddlers, teens, work, stress, anxiety etc all collaborate to steal those hours from us!

Here are a few things we can do to establish better sleep:
1๏ธโƒฃ Make sure to rule out any health problems that may cause sleep deprivation.
2๏ธโƒฃ TRY and stick to a regular sleep schedule
3๏ธโƒฃ Get regular exercise-aim for at least 30 minutes per day and not super close to your bedtime window.
4๏ธโƒฃ Notice what youโ€™re ingesting-avoid caffeine, alcohol, sugary foods, heavy meals and excessive fluids before bedtime.
5๏ธโƒฃ Stress management-thatโ€™s a big one but the โ€œmanagementโ€ part is different for everyone.
6๏ธโƒฃ Improve your sleep environment-dark room, quiet and cool.
7๏ธโƒฃ Develop a relaxing bedtime routine-try to avoid screens, work, and stressful conversations in the evenings. I KNOW....way easier said than done!
A warm bath, dim lights, and practicing relaxing techniques will assist in a peaceful bedtime routine.
8๏ธโƒฃ Postpone worrying-if youโ€™re like me and wake up in the middle night with your mind racing, jot it down and get to that in the morning. Your brain will release it and you get the benefit of returning to a peaceful slumber!

I KNOW this and I still struggle with getting all my water in on most days. But here is the thing โฌ‡๏ธ

FACT: If the human body consumes 16 oz. of water in a given hour, the metabolic rate can spike ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿปby as much as 3๏ธโƒฃ0๏ธโƒฃ% for the next 30 to 40 mins! By committing to drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water each day, you can expect to lose 2๏ธโƒฃ plus lbs within the first week alone. Seriously!!
HOW ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธand ๐Ÿค” WHY?
There is a single enzyme (called lipase) that MUST be activated in your body in order to mobilize fat (i.e. get rid of it). Water is one of the many necessary components in the activation of Lipase ๐Ÿ’ง. In other words, your fat loss is LIMITED if you aren't drinking enough H2O. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

The best time to persevere is when you least feel like it...makes perfect sense, right? It does...but how do you do it? How do we "find" the motivation? What is motivation anyway?

Motivation IS persevering when you least feel like it and carrying on.

Checklist it out:
1. Do something (anything) that you absolutely KNOW makes you feel productive. If it's making your bed...go make your bed!

2. You have to separate your mood from your motivation! You might be feeling on top of the world and happy as a clam yet your motivation game is lacking...or you could be mad at the whole world yet motivated to take it on! Whatever snaps you out of a bad mood...do that! If you need more focus, maybe it's really deep breaths or some music that can assist you. Find your jam!

3. Know your goal. Write it down. Say it out load. Look in the mirror while you say it. Heck, take your written message and post it all over the place so you constantly see it and are forced to be focused on it.

4. Tackle the things you enjoy least at the beginning of the day. Do it if you can. Not only will it be over, but you'll feel accomplished AND motivated as the day is beginning!

5. Change your environment or your background if you need to. I'm not talking about permanently, unless that's what you want. I'm just talking about drowning out noise and giving you a fresh new outlook. Clarity.

Find motivation, nurture it, and keep on keeping on!

Even though Iโ€™m all about getting (and staying) healthy, exercising, and being mindful of choices...we all need a day to relax. There is a really good chance I may not hit 10,000 steps today...I might not push play on any of my home workouts either. Today, my husband is home (and one of my kids...the other is working). Today, Iโ€™m going to sit in a chair outside and enjoy this beautiful weather that Florida is having. Today, weโ€™re going to have dinner with some really awesome friends. Today, Iโ€™m going to reflect and be thankful for all my blessings.

Breakfast ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’•. I literally run out the door every morning...no matter how early I get up!  Using Shakeology as my morn...

Breakfast ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’•. I literally run out the door every morning...no matter how early I get up! Using Shakeology as my morning meal leaves me feeling content and ready to get the day moving. Today I used the vanilla vegan, added almond milk, pineapple, and organic shredded unsweetened coconut...plus two scoops of collagen powder. Easy. Want to know more about shakeology? Just a little bit of what LIIFT4 is about. I did forget to video the first block of 4 exercises! Today was circuit form of chest and tris...then Joel does this super fun push-up burnout ๐Ÿ˜. We always finish with some core work at the end. Totally time: 39 minutes. Done and Done ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ.
