This is shaping up to be a really great conference if you fancy a weekend in London with a difference!

1 in 4 UK adults now meet the criteria for metabolic syndrome.

Poor metabolic health increases the risk of chronic disease, from heart disease and stroke to type 2 diabetes and fatty liver.

And it doesn’t just affect you.

It can shape the long-term health of your children, your partner, and the people you care for.

That’s why the PHC Conference 2026: Nourish to Flourish matters.

This event will change how you think about metabolic health forever.

We’re bringing together leading experts in nutrition, medicine, and education to show you:

• what’s really driving this epidemic
• why so many people struggle despite “doing everything right”
• and the practical, evidence-based steps you can start using immediately

Because the longer you wait, the harder it becomes to reverse.

And the sooner you understand it, the sooner you can protect the people you love.

If prevention matters to you, grab the Early Bird now and join 200+ already coming.

Many of my clients struggle with sleep.

I’m often surprised how long people will put up with not sleeping well.

It’s absolutely normal to have the odd night of disrupted sleep. But if you regularly get less than you need, or you don’t wake feeling rested please try to get to the bottom of why.

For some people caffeine and alcohol are part of the picture. This 5-minute video explains why.

It really hammers home why I didn’t sleep until 5am after an expresso martini at a 50th party recently…

Caffeine wakes you up, and alcohol makes you nod off, right? It's not that simple. Sleep scientist Matthew Walker, PhD takes us into the eye-opening ways that these drinks affect the quantity and quality of our sleep.

Don’t panic, I haven’t been in an accident!

Yesterday I tried the Body Ballancer lymphatic drainage massage suit with the lovely Alex in Clevedon.

Our lymphatic system is an overlooked part of our health, quietly removing toxins, helping us absorb nutrients and deliver them to our cells for energy.

It’s much like our cardiovascular system, but without a pump. So massage like this helps remove excess fluid that sits in the spaces between our cells and keeps our lymph moving.

I’m a natural cynic. But I have to say I’m impressed. Why?

🌟My legs felt noticeably lighter
🌟This morning they feel less puffy
🌟It was super relaxing and I slept really well

Obviously you need to do this more than once to receive ongoing health benefits but I can honestly say I am IN!

As we age lymph can move less well, particularly with sedentary lifestyles and hormonal changes.

If you are local to me please get in touch with Alex.

It's buy-one-get-one free with me 😉

Sometimes we don't just solve one symptom mystery but many a long-standing issue you've put up with for years. Why?

🕸 Think of your body like a spiders web... everything is inter-connected
🕸 You may not realise it but what is going on in one part of your body is resulting in symptoms you experience elsewhere
🕸 But sometimes you have to dig deep to understand why .... working with me 1:1 gives you exactly this
🕸 I take a full health history, 7-day food diary and I LISTEN
🕸 From our first conversation I'm creating YOUR spiders web in my mind
🕸 Then through our weekly sessions we unravel your unwanted spider trails for good

Too Halloween? No spookiness here, just biology.

I've got only two remaining spots for clients to start in November. Don't wait until the New Year to make a start on feeling better. Life is too short.

I’m a Registered Nutritionist but I still struggle with…

✖️Consistent meal planning (Babybel & protein-shake anyone?)

✖️Resisting sweet after savoury (always…top tip, frozen cherries & dark chocolate)

✖️Oily fish (I keep trying, meanwhile Omega-3 supplements it is)

✖️Spinach 🤢

✖️Over-eating at a Buffet (it’s not my fault, my satiety gene is buggered 😳)

✖️Being happy with my body

✖️Feeling judged with my food choices

So if you are looking for a nutritionist who is going to tell you the path to eternal youth and happiness is found at the bottom of a green smoothie, I’m not your woman.

But if you are looking for support to get rid of your low mood, digestive issues, metabolic challenges, fatigue or just to find your get-up -and-go from someone who ‘gets-it’ … I might just be the one.

Realistic nutrition for real life. Nearly 50, wrinkles and all.

PS. I’ve just been to the hairdressers, do not expect this level of polished coiffure at all times

😂 Definitely the funniest review I've had so far 😂

What I love about it the most is how it demonstrates that in my clinic I really live by my view that changes to our diet and lifestyle have to be REALISTIC.

There is no point in trying to live off green smoothies and kale pizza and expect to do that for more than 2 days.

John was cynical but desperate to feel better - if you're the same, book in for a free chat on my website and see if my version of real life, honest and practical nutrition advice is what you need. I am NOT perfect and I don't expect perfection from my clients.

Full review here:

After a major stomach operation in 2017 I’ve never again felt normal
Lots of bloating/ ibs symptoms /tiredness just generally feeling rubbish most of the time.
After many visits to my GP
different tests and tablets subscribed with no luck helping my issues I started to do my own research and decided I needed to speak to a professional.
I put a post on my cycling clubs whatts app page and Ruth came highly recommended.
So after an initial phone call with Ruth I decided to sign up for a six week program.
Before the first appointment Ruth sent me forms to describe my symptoms and a food diary to fill out
So on our first appointment she was
Already ahead of the game and had
Ideas ready to discuss with me.
The day after my appointment I received a email with a protocol
Of foods I should stop eating and foods I should add into my diet
With some easy recipes recommendations
Also some supplements I should try.
Just small changes as not to overwhelm me and put me off.
I stuck to Ruth’s ideas and within two weeks there was a noticeable difference and after the 6 weeks
I can honestly say I felt a lot lot better it’s now been nearly six months and I’ve more or less stuck to Ruth’s Plan a bit of cheating here and there and now I hardly get any bloating
My ibs symptoms have gone and i am slowly getting back more energy.
Overall I am very happy and cannot recommend Ruth enough.
John
56 year old builder who used to like Greggs a bit to much 😂
Once a week is good
Little bit of Friday protein
Thanks Ruth ⭐

WARNING: don’t read this if you are eating 🫣

Finally ‘crapsules’ make the headlines!

I talk about these a lot in talks I do.

I use them to illustrate that if you don’t look after your gut bacteria you may need to use someone else’s 💩.

In the USA trials are demonstrating the use of poo pills in resolving mental health challenges - a stark reminder of the link between our gut and our brain.

I’ll write more on this soon, but meanwhile there is a link in the comments to a blog I shared with some tips on how to look after your gut bugs.

Can a dose of good bacteria clear superbugs from their hiding place in the bowels?

Has your belly got bigger recently? It might not be (just) the pies.

Cortisol is a good thing sometimes, but persistently elevated cortisol over a long period of time can play havoc with how and where we store fat.

Scroll through to find out why and what you can do about it.
