For the first time, a Filipino child has received a funds-sponsored pediatric liver transplant through the partnership between Chinese General Hospital and Shanghai Renji Hospital. This milestone marks a new chapter in medical collaboration and humanitarian commitment with the vision of having more Filipino children access critical, life-saving treatments.

CGHMC has sent its top specialists for advanced training in liver transplantation, reinforcing its commitment to bringing world-class healthcare closer to home. The first batch of Filipino doctors is now gaining expertise, setting the foundation for future transplant procedures in the Philippines.

Gallstone Complication: Choledocholith or CBD (common bile duct)stones
- This happens when stones from the gallbladder fall into the common bile duct leading to obstruction, causing jaundice (yellow skin) and possible infection.

This is a case of 38 year old female, known case of gallstones for a year. She had persistent pain now presenting with icteric sclera, acholic stools and tea colored urine. All symptoms suggesting CBD stones.

Patient referred to gastroenterologist for ERCP ( Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) for confirmation of our diagnosis. This procedure will also provide treatment (removal of stone) once confirmed. She underwent the procedure well with one stone extracted from the CBD.

She was referred back for an elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy and was discharged the day after.

Intraoperative Findings: Gallbladder was filled with multiple pigment stones and purulent material.
