Parks Brothers Funeral Service would like to introduce their newest team member, Cassie, she is an Aussiedoodle. Cassie will be going through training to become a therapy dog. It is proven that therapy dogs whether they’re used in hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centers, hospices, psychotherapy offices, nursing homes, universities, airports, or crisis situations, can provide invaluable psycholo

gical and physiological support to individuals in need. After all, the act of simply petting a dog has been shown to decrease stress hormone levels, regulate breathing, and lower blood pressure. And since the death of a loved one can be a very traumatizing experience for people, it makes sense that therapy dogs would be a great fit for the funeral home environment. They can be in the room when grieving families make arrangements. They can attend visitations and funerals, if the mourners wish. It’s always up to the family and we watch closely to see whether everyone is comfortable with the idea. Funeral Homes all over the United States are seeing the benefits of therapy dogs. We welcome anyone to stop by and visit Cassie and give her some love anytime you need it, and if you see us out feel free to come say Hi. We are excited to be able to bring her into the community and hope you watch her as she grows.

It’s National K-9 Veterans Day, and we want to honor all dogs who have served our nation with their skills and dedication. Started during WWII, the Dogs for Defense program prepared dogs for duty, and their first outing was in North Africa in November 1942.
