Tummy Tuck Rehab Our mission is to change the entire conversation around tummy tucks by educating and empowering women throughout the decision making and recovery process.

We will help you learn to advocate for yourself and support you afterwards with guided programs for We have heard from so many women that their body doesn’t feel like their own after surgery which makes it really hard to simply “Listen to your body” or “Let your body guide you” when it comes to returning to exercise. While some women feel completely confident in exercising again, many feel lost and confused with the process. Even though they were “cleared” for exercise, they don’t feel physically or mentally ready to begin. The fear of undoing the surgery constantly lurks in the background and this is only compounded by the stress of wondering “is what I’m experiencing normal?”

The whole process can become exhausting and isolating. We aim to support you during this time through reliable and credible information, resources, and programs.

💜 You might not have a flat stomach after surgery. This depends on how your body heals and even the best surgeon’s cannot control everything about this. You may bloat in a different place than before, and you are also human with digestion, organs, muscles, and tissues that are not constant. ⁣

💜 You didn’t do anything “wrong” in your pregnancy or postpartum journey. You didn’t “fail” physical therapy. Not everything is within our control. However, what IS in your control is going into surgery from a place of empowerment and education rather than desperation. ⁣

💜 While tummy tuck surgery can fix some issues, it can also sometimes cause new issues or make your old issues worse. It is a wide spectrum and there isn’t a lot of research on some aspects of this. So, it is best to really look into it all before making the decision based on the promise it will completely “fix” an issue like back pain, leaking, prolapse, etc…⁣

💜 Many women come to us wondering what is wrong with them as they don’t feel great at 6-8 weeks out from surgery. There is nothing wrong with you! You just need some more time and intentional rehab as recovery can be very intense for some people. Everyone has a DRASTICALLY different experience with recovery. ⁣

💜 Surgery doesn’t make your muscles stronger, it just changes where they are in your body. You still have to train your core to feel stronger and look stronger, too. ⁣

💜 Just getting back to what you were doing before surgery might be hard for some people! Progressive strategies paired with intention rebab like we have in our Tummy Tuck Core Rehab program can help!

If you’re recovering from a tummy or have one booked in the future, you were probably on/will be on some kind of lifting restriction after the surgery. But there are some people who might be wondering if that restriction is a bit excessive for them since they lift weights regularly at the gym and are quite strong physically.
The idea around the restriction is ensure you don’t do anything that will compromise your surgery, especially in those crucial early days when tissues need to heal. So while it might be true that your body could possibly handle lifting “light” objects because of your current fitness level, it still isn’t a good idea to give into the temptation, especially since it’s just for a short while and because you definitely won’t regret letting your body heal!

Tissues don’t all heal at the same time so while your external scar might be healing well, there is a lag between the external scar being fully healed and the time it takes for the connective tissue underneath to heal.

This is why we don’t recommend doing high-impact exercises like running and jumping, or high-level exercises such as heavy weight lifting, HIIT, gymnastics, martial arts at the 6 week mark and suggest slowly building up to those.

We also strongly recommend building up your core to be able to handle more advanced movements and exercises, and we cover this in depth in our Tummy Tuck Core Rehab program for post-op individuals. So if you want to know exactly which exercises to do with your core at each stage of recovery, from 5 weeks post-op to 6 months, check out the program link in bio!

Sometimes it can feel like a lot of hard work finding recommendations and referrals for surgeons. ⁣

Aesthetic results are relative. We may all have different feelings looking at this picture, but for this woman it is a devastating result. ⁣

This is a picture from one of Lisa’s clients (𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦) who was very unhappy with how her belly looked a year post-op because she was flatter before surgery. However, the surgery didn’t “fail” and is completely intact, and her surgeon is a top-notch doctor. This is just how her body responded. ⁣

Getting a tummy tuck isn’t like getting a nose job; there are so many more factors at play like your organs, tissues, muscles, and digestive system. With so many factors, we cannot always predict how your body will respond to this surgery. Even the best surgeons in the world can’t control all of these factors.⁣

Many women are happy with their tummy tuck surgery results! Yet there are also many women that are not. Sometimes core strengthening and/or physical therapy can help with aesthetic results, sometimes it can’t. ⁣

Our purpose of sharing this is to educate you on all the possible outcomes before making decisions surrounding surgery. ⁣

op 4 things we want you to know:

1. Bringing the muscles together doesn’t mean they are stronger
2. Expect better, not perfect
3. Not all surgeons are comfortable with returning to high level, core intensive exercise after
4. Healing takes time, often more than 6 weeks!

We are always supportive when someone decides to get a tummy tuck because the journey to get there probably wasn’t an easy one! We just want you to be informed about the process and the results so that you are better aware of what to expect.
