The Dao De Jing teaches that Spirit is the eternal essence pervading all things in the universe, connecting everything in a beautiful, wondrous, and vast web of interconnectedness. Though formless and intangible, 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞.

By cultivating a deep connection to Spirit, we tap into that limitless source of wisdom, creativity, and inner strength. We feel encouraged and supported to let go of our ego-driven desires and attachments—including the sense of disconnection and separation—and instead embrace the interconnectedness of all beings.

Through recognizing and nurturing the Spirit within ourselves and others, we can cultivate a deeper sense of purpose, fulfillment, and unity.

𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦: 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐞

On July 4th, some members of the SoulGuide community who are based in the United States celebrated Independence Day — a national holiday commonly known as the 4th of July, commemorating gaining independence from the British Monarchy with the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

And with preparations and community celebrations going on all throughout the week, the subject of Freedom was on our minds.

But 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬. It’s not freedom from a restrictive relationship, a political policy, financial debt, or any number of other external factors that might be burdening us.

Rather, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭, 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭, 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐞 that often create a sense of unworthiness and limit our spiritual progress.

𝐴 𝐶𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑀𝑖𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑙𝑒𝑠 teaches us that true freedom resides within, transcending past circumstances and embracing forgiveness of self and others.

Through the transformative power of forgiveness, we release the past and awaken to our divine nature. Freedom in A Course in Miracles is an invitation to transcend the ego’s limitations and align ourselves with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Embracing freedom is a journey of self-compassion and recognition of our inherent worthiness. It’s a loving choice that leads us toward the path of inner peace and liberation, allowing us to fully love and accept our true selves while living a life filled with joy and authenticity.

Do you know someone who’s experiencing loneliness and isolation because of changes in their relationship, their career, or their very worldview?

Loneliness and isolation have impacted nearly everyone over recent years and many are beginning to speak on the subject, including United States Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy who says, “Our epidemic of loneliness and isolation has been an underappreciated public health crisis that has harmed individual and societal health. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 — 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐮𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐫, 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬.”

The Upanishads teach us that the desire for companionship and connection is inherent in human nature, as we were created from the Self’s longing for expansion and companionship. From this desire, the Self created the world and human beings.

“In the beginning, there was only the Self, or the Atman, which was alone and all-encompassing. The Self thought, ‘I am one, but I wish to become many.’”

While loneliness can be a difficult emotion to navigate, 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.

By recognizing the divine essence within ourselves and others, and cultivating deep connections with the people and world around us, 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞.

Whether through acts of kindness, spending time in nature, or forming meaningful relationships, 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩.
