Our ligaments, tendons, and musculoskeletal system overall can suffer during the menopause transition, with injuries becoming more common. Unfortunately, too many practitioners still miss all too common issues like tendinopathies that can leave women unnecessarily living in a lot of pain before they receive proper diagnosis and treatment.

This week’s guest, former pro triathlete and licensed massage therapist Jan Wanklyn ( .release.australia ) dives into the issues active menopausal women face, the soft tissue and exercise therapies that help, and why she wishes she’d been offered hormone therapy back in her day.

Former pro triathlete and licensed massage therapist Jan Wanklyn ( .release.australia ) has strong feelings about the lack of options she was offered when she went through menopause, especially missing out on the opportunity to use hormone therapy, which she believes would have helped her maintain better health through the transition.

She breaks it down this week, along with how our musculoskeletal system becomes more vulnerable during perimenopause and the soft tissue and exercise therapies that can help prevent injury and pain.

Today’s news: the FDA has initiated the removal of “black box” warnings from menopausal hormone replacement therapy products.

It was anticipated that there would be a label change for vaginal estrogen products, but not systemic hormone therapy.

Our advice hasn’t changed, you don’t need to suffer or tough it out. Work with your provider to find the best solution for you.

One of the earliest red flags of overtraining is a change in mood and motivation. This is actually signalling a bunch of biological disruptions, like rising stress hormones, changes in brain chemicals that regulate mood, and ongoing muscle breakdown.

But when you’re going through menopause, your mood is changing all the time. The best way to figure out what’s going on? Track your moods.

We LOVE outdoor runs…

But when there’s a Nor’Easter blowing in…ice covers the roads and trails…or it’s just too dark and cold to enjoy the outdoors, an indoor run hits the spot–and keeps our training on track.

Plus, indoor running has some unique advantages

Treadmills offer precise control over pace, incline, and duration.
Perfect for:
👟 Cadence drills
🗻 Hill simulations
⌚️Tempo and interval runs

And the KICKR Run’s RunFree Mode lets you run just the way you do outdoors, naturally changing pace and stride, without having to manually adjust a thing.

The KICKR Run is 25% off for a limited time, no code needed! Plus, you can get a FREE Headwind fan ($300 value) with the code FEISTY

🔥 Are you a flasher or a non-flasher? Many women still think of hot flashes as just “bothersome”.
