Cherished Journey with Doula Molly I am a certified birth doula, lactation consultant and trained childbirth educator that has been practicing for several years.

I would love to answer any questions you may have. I became a birth doula after the birth of my last child (2013). This was not always on my radar but became a clear path once it came into light. I have training/certifications from 2 different organizations: Birth Arts International and Stillbirthday. I am also a Birth Arts International trained Childbirth Educator and Certified Lactation Consulta

nt. I have special training in stillbirths as well as keeping up with several other techniques. My prices are based off of services needed. I have an à la carte option as well as package deals. Send me an email with any questions you may have.

Some great advice from Fourth Support!

Don’t get rid of that exercise ball that helped you jumpstart labor. Bouncing and rocking is recognizable motion for your little one, and often works to soothe to sleep.

As a bereaved mother myself, it’s a club you never wish on anyone, but grateful to have support systems like these.

So today, on National Bereaved Mother’s Day, we think of all the moms who have lost a child, in anyway shape or form.

International Bereaved Mother’s Day is observed every year on the first Sunday in May.

It is a day to honor those mothers who have lost a child. It is a day of remembrance and a time to support those beautiful women who are suffering the profound grief associated with such a loss.

Board members of One Bright Star will be at our Memorial Site at Ray Erlandson Park in Mankato on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM to show love and support for our bereaved mothers. You do not have to suffer in silence. We offer an ear to listen, a hug of support and hearts filled with compassion. Bring a friend, family member or come by yourself.

We encourage friends of bereaved mothers to reach out with a kind word of acknowledgement, a flower, a hug. You are not reminding them that they lost a child; that grief will always be with them because all love begins and ends with motherhood.

"Grief is the price we pay for love."

Doulas and Partners- Student Article

By no means does what I do replace the loving support of your other half. I am here to support and educate the two of you. That’s the beauty of it. With me involved, you’ll find that your partner is more capable to support you. Typically Dad doesn’t know what to expect or hasn’t seen birth before. He does not know what is normal. That’s where I come in. My calming presence will keep that worrisome look off your partners face.

These are all great responses. Especially, the 1st one. There are too Many women out there that "laugh" or "joke" about having to cross their legs when they sneeze. NOT OK! As a birth worker, I always educate my patients on what is normal and when to seek assistance.

In 1986, physicians Marshall Klaus and John Kennell teamed up with scientists Steven Robertson and Roberto Sosa to publish the "original doula study".

Their findings revealed that the average labor accompanied by a female companion was cut in half.

(An average of 19.3 hours without companionship vs. an average of 8.7 hours with the presence of the female companion)

The publication of this article helped pave the way for more research into the benefits of doulas.
