My favorite thing about this work (aside from getting to vibe out in a cozy, dark room as I often joke) is getting to WITNESS the differences in your faces and moods before and after a session.
Even a quick 30 minute session.
It's as though my office is a space where you can leave it. Whatever "it" is. Let it go and leave with a smile.
I mean this in the most humble way. I am no magician but I do pride myself on 3 things:
- Setting the environment
Cozy, relaxed, quiet. Allowing for you to really feel and release. Even in deep, therapeutic massage (my pride and joy), I believe your brain needs to feel relaxed in order to allow for real change in your body. To let go. I won't talk to you unless you want to chat. However, I always want you to feel that you can communicate about pressure, and I will check in every now and then to make sure you're doing okay.
- Listening to your body
I may listen to your body with my hands and elbows, but usually they're pretty good at sensing feedback: like when to go deeper, where to hold, and when to move on. My forearms and elbows are my favorite tools in my toolbox. Slow and steady. Pressure doesn't have to hurt.
- Working all the muscles
This doesn't mean I am going to ignore your "problem areas," but I am most definitely going to work on the surrounding muscles, at least for a little bit. Everything is connected. I always feel underwhelmed when I receive a massage in which half of the muscles in my back are ignored. & you will be able to feel the difference, too.
I like to give the kind of massage that I would want to receive.
If you feel like you have been carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, I gotchu.
Offering 30-minute therapeutic sessions because I know in this economy, it can feel nearly impossible to prioritize your wellbeing.
And, you deserve to do so.
